  1. Tony Iommi's official response: Black Sabbath/Heaven & Hell guitarist Tony Iommi has released the following statement regarding the passing of his bandmate: "Yesterday 16th May my dear, dear friend Ronnie James Dio passed away at 7.45am L.A. time. "I've been in total shock; I just can't believe he's gone. "Ronnie was one of the nicest people you could ever meet. We had some fantastic times together. "Ronnie loved what he did, making music and performing on stage. He loved his fans so much. He was a kind man and would put himself out to help others. "I can honestly say it's truly been an honor to play at his side for all these years. "His music will live on forever. "Our thoughts are with Wendy Dio [Ronnie's wife/manager] who stood by Ronnie until the end. He loved her very much. "The man with the magic voice is a star amongst stars, a true professional. "I'll miss you so much, my dear friend."
  2. Black Sabbath - Neon Knights (1980)
  3. One of the most important musical figures of my teenage years. The man had one of the most amazing natural voices I've ever heard. I feel like I lost a family member.
  4. I'm drinking a homemade Quad-Latte before work.
  5. There's no way either of those shows was anywhere near as bad as "V". That one was about as pleasurable as a root canal.
  6. Well, I think they are still very important characters to how the rest of the story will play out...after all, it is Jacob's "game" that the candidates are trying to survive...and the rules of the game keep MIB from killing them himself. So, they are still involved. The "light in the waterfall", is really just a different view of something we've been seeing since Ben first moved the island with the wheel. We always knew there were "pockets of energy" all over the island...and according to the series, elsewhere on Earth...but this is the only one that seems to control life/death (Rose's cancer being cured, Locke can walk, etc.). There is still "something else", some other entity on the island that has yet to be revealed to us...plus we still haven't seen whatever original population was on the island, so there is still farther back to go. Whether they can get there...who knows. But I know one thing, go back and watch season 1 and all this MIB/Jacob stuff was setup in that season even though we didn't know who they were yet.
  7. from Steven's Insurgentes album...same director as the new live video.
  8. Thanks for the tip, I didn't even know those existed.
  9. Here is a clip from the upcoming "Anesthetize" concert video:
  10. This is one new release I'm definitely interested in getting. I liked all of her previous albums (including the aforementioned Fragile).
  11. ASTRA - The Weirding. Anyone who kind of misses that 1970-74 sound of bands like Floyd, Crimson or Yes should check out this band from San Diego. It takes a few spins to fully sink in, but it's worth the effort. For once I agree with the review on AMG: "Unlike many other modern-day prog rock revivalists, Astra recall a day when the genre was more about creating sweeping mood shifts than mere mind-numbing instrumental acrobatics."
  12. yeah, it's like that. I lost track of the show at some point during it's run, don't even remember where I left off originally...so I'm just going to watch the entire thing again.
  13. The X-Files (Season 1) -They've added the entire series to Netflix Instant, so I guess I'll be busy for awhile. LOL
  14. I'm enjoying being confused...of course I've watched the entire series in the past year (never watched it on TV till this season) so I haven't had to deal with all the long waits between seasons. I don't really like watching TV shows, haven't for years...but LOST changed my mind about that. It offered a very unique vibe that appealed to me right away. Been fun trying to navigate all the red herrings. I just enjoy the ride.
  15. Cordwainer Smith - Norstrilia ...thanks to Lon for turning me onto this cat, what a joy!
  16. Don't be the least bit surprised if iTunes starts adding a dirt-cheap "all you can listen" streaming option in the near future. It would only make sense to shut down Lala before launching some kind of major service change. Hopefully iTunes will add "stream all" capability to sample albums like Lala did. Who knows....
  17. I've been expecting that.
  18. I love Rough 'N' Tumble. I know some people that have problems with the chosen material, but honestly, the arrangements and Stan's performance are so "ON" that any questions about song choices are kind of pointless. And Satisfy is a JAMMIN' tune!
  19. The swelling is a safety feature of the battery, it expands to let pressure escape in the event of a failure. This is the same with all laptop batteries, regardless of manufacturer. As to why they fail, I don't think it's anything more than some being defective. Here is apple's battery page: http://www.apple.com/batteries/notebooks.html
  20. Not sure if this is any bearing on the case, but that sure does looks like frozen pizza (i speak from experience)....the mystery deepens. THIS JUST IN! http://www.kokospizza.com.au/pizza.html A pizza joint in Australia! But if you look at the pictures of the pizza, the photo from the youtube video is an imposter. CONSPIRACY! Where's the Red Menace when we need him?
  21. Howard Roberts - GUILTY!!! (Capitol)
  22. Oh well, not the first time I was wrong about something like that. Fantastic album though!
  23. I read that August 5th, 1973 was the primary date for the album. Which just happened to have been my 3rd birthday.
