  1. per Lon's suggestion I've been watching Defying Gravity, pleasantly low-key, character driven sci-fi. Very nice vibe to this one, probably too much patience required for the average viewer, thus the reason it didn't last. But regardless, I'm enjoying the part of the journey that was completed.
  2. This is actually one of the best sessions from that box set (IMHO). I always felt it should have been reissued as a single disc.
  3. Nektar - A Tab in The Ocean (1972)

    Deep Purple

This thread makes me want to spin some Purple soon.... oh yeah, IN ROCK is a damn monument to HEAVY.
  5. Washington still hasn't learned that it actually needs to DRAFT some players every now and again....
  6. Yes! That's such a great character. R.I.P. John.
  7. Philly Joe seems to epitomize the "junkie groove" for me.
  8. That one's a favorite of a lot of people , including me , though it might have to share the title with Memphis To New York Spirit . My favorite would be a tie between The Certain Feeling and Let 'Em Roll.
  9. I just spent the past 20 minutes trying to track down the actual date of this concert, but was finally successful... The Doobie Brothers with UFO opening. October 5, 1978 - Roanoke Civic Center I was 8.
  10. Joe Pass - disc 2. EXCELLENT!
  11. Countess Greyscale Samantha (witch cat)
  12. I'm interested in this as well, glad to see Mose still in action.
  13. Porcupine Tree - Futile (download only FLAC EP) purchased from http://www.burningsh.../collection/94/
  14. I only have The Heavyweight Champion, that sounds fine to my ears. I heard one of the later reissues and wasn't impressed, so I've never bothered to upgrade.
  15. I heard about this earlier in the week, if it was 2002 it might have made an impact. Now it's a tad late I think.
  16. If it's jazz and I like it, there's a pretty good chance that either Jazzbo, Sangrey or Joe Milazzo played it for me originally. To them I am eternally grateful. I did bring my odd fascination with Jerome Richardson to the party though...along with the undying passion I have for Johnny Griffin's music. ...in addition, lots of great recs from JimR and 7/4 on the guitar-player front, thanks to Chuck for some occasional classical recommendations... How can you not love this place?
  17. Pelican - What We All Come To Need (2LP, 180 gram) - Southern Lord Records
  18. Well, I can definitely tell you that Valleys is worth getting, in fact, even if you're a casual fan of Hendrix this is a must-own. The version of Red House on here could be the best I've ever heard. I'm considering getting the vinyl reissues of the original albums.
  19. East Coasting Blues & Roots Mingus Ah Um
  20. Love Song From "Apache" - Coleman Hawkins (from Today & Now)
  21. I just got a 2LP set that has one 1 red vinyl album and 1 black vinyl album, really can't tell any difference at all between the two.
  22. it is possible to be both.
