I recently made the switch to Macintosh after years and years of Windows use. However, I'm still a novice at available software for a variety of applications. If you guys have any suggestions I would really appreciate it. I'm looking for the following: Word Processing/Spreadsheet/Database Music Player (right now I've got iTunes & Play) Audio Editing software Picture Editing software Video editing/burning software Preferably freeware or something not too expensive. Well, I help people with Mac problems 5 days a week. I used to support Windows. My job is MUCH EASIER NOW! The difference between reloading and configuring the Windows operating system and the Mac OS is about 3 hours.

Good advice there MG from everyone. 1. copy all the data off the external. 2. buy a new external 3. copy all of the data back over to the new external. 4. buy a mac.

Steven Wilson's solo album Insurgentes is truly brilliant, a stunning record that allows him to stretch the envelope a bit more than he can do in PT. I started listening to the newer era PT first and worked my way backward, I actually love it all. I've also been on a kick with bands like Opeth, Mastodon, Pelican, Yob, Shrinebuilder, etc. LOTS of really good progressive/heavy music out there these days.

let's pick on bad drum machine programming instead. or how about lame country drummers? or maybe bad death-metal-polka drummers....

I think First Act also makes some higher end guitars, Matt Pike from High On Fire uses a custom First Act 9-string guitar. There are actually quite a few good acoustics out there in the $300 or less category.

"right click" on the My Computer icon on the desktop and select Properties. That window will show you what versions of Windows you are running and which Service Pack you are on (you should be on XP service pack 3).
