  1. I'm sure it will be available. Ron Mann executive produced it and I'm seeing him tomorrow. I'll ask when and where.
  2. He worked on a film magazine with me many years ago. Last time I saw him we attended a Benny Carter club date together.

    Abdullah Ibrahim

    I've got tickets.
  4. I have to admit I'd never heard of him but I'm not much of a Deadhead. And how is he a "Jazzman"?
  5. LA Times puzzle today "Jazzman Saunders"-- 4 letters? (I've found the answer but am I the only one who would never get this? )
  6. I used to listen to Ted's show on CJRT. It was terrific.
  7. I first heard of and heard Lenny Breau when I was walking down Yonge Street Toronto with Zal Yanofsky (erstwhile guitarist with The Loving Spoonful) when Zalman stopped pointed to a sign in a music store window and said "Lenny Breau's giving a demo-- we gotta go in. He's a great, great guitar player!" So we went in and I got to hear Breau for the one and only time in my life. I've since bought a cd and also have also heard him played on Randy Bachman's radio show. Zalman was right (as usual).
  8. Also, the concerts have never been complete on Lp or cd. (Not sure recordings of the complete concerts exist. )
  9. As ins William Claxton?
  10. You're right. I can't keep it straight anymore. So I guess I'm asking how many of the 97 tracks are not Okeh or Victors.( I guess I could just go through DESOR and count for myself but you seem to have this information already.)
  11. What (if anything) does Sony control besides the Okeh and the Columbias? And has any of it except the Okeh's ever appeared on cd? (Ignoring the Masters of Jazz and Classics releases. )
  12. I was impressed that they didn't use The Sidewinder. (Or did I just not notice it?)
  13. Thank you. That's very helpful.
  14. I'm going to be in New York on the night of April 27th. Are there any jazz happenings on that night that I should try to get to or should I just try to see a play or have a nice meal? (My wife and I will probably walk the High Line and go to the Whitney Biennial during the day.)

    RIP

At my age you read a lot of obits just trying to keep track of your friends.
  16. I got it from an Amazon sub seller called Marvello for $11.65 in June . With shipping and tax it was $15.64.
  17. I saw it on tv a couple of times in the late '50's. As I remember it there was a lot of music.
  18. There are a lot singles in there that I think have never been released on cd. And while they're at it they could add much of what was on the French CBS 3 Lp release Duke 56/62. OTHD they could leave out the albums avaialbe on cd and still have a good box of rarities.
  19. I had a choice of about 1100 selections (with some duplicates). Are there more?
  20. I didn't realize that. I thought I was choosing from the entire collection when I was there.
  21. That should mean more Basie with Pres. Great!
  22. Glad you like them. A friend of mine produces them, another friend was the original production designer and still gets credited and her husband directs a couple of them every year.
  23. I wonder if he recorded any other acts at the festival. Anybody who's visited the Museum notice?
  24. OK I now have the 2 cds with a slight price reduction. Vol 23 contains the last 3 actual Treasury shows (the last last one was very short--apparently most of it was pre-empted by a college football game). Has anyone heard the shows from 1953 and have an opinion about them? Also any idea of what else might be on the last two sets since the '53 shows aren't quite enough to fill 4 cds? If vols 24&25 include earlier air shots I'd be tempted to get them. Not sure the '53 material appeals that much.
