guess I was lucky with Airbourne, took 3 days for last item from Stamford to get to my front door. Mind you I was in at the time otherwise it might have been left on the doorstep given the comments above.

whilst its not quite the same thing leaving ordering a Mosaic until its on last chance is risky. I ordered one of the last Chico Hamilton sets and sweated 5 weeks for it arrive. By the time it did the set was OOP. Curse my luck that one of the discs was defective and Mosiac were unable to provide a replacement !!

Just picked up these Willie "the Lion" Smith - Music on my mind Chet Baker- Broken Wing both pretty good, the Baker will have greater staying power but The Lion sounds excellent , not too flashy or overly exuberant, just a nice slice of quality stride piano ( but not much else). Recording quality of both is excellent.

The Blue Moon sessions are nothing like the spare sound of the "New Dance " or "Scattered Clouds". It collects a scandinavian air shot that was his firts release I think ( sound poor really but adequate) ,he does a nice post Bird thing on some standards, the bulk of the Cd is from early 1960s and has a distict west coast feel to it. Lots of overdubs of various horns. Interesting but second rate really

for any one who know the material on Eldridge set, how representative of the box are the "Roy and Diz" sessions from 1954.? I quite like these but am not sure I need several more hours of the same.

this , really is astonishingly good value, good sound and some beefy performances made me wonder why I bothered with the Mosaic set !! Only jesting, but this is an excellent companion even if it doesn't shed really much extra light on the CJB. Some very strong alto solos presumably by Mr Quill.

Perhaps the strongest item in Ortega output although I find I play "Scattered Clouds" more often. I am pretty sure "New Dance" is or has been recently reissued by Hatology in one of their luxury cardboard sleeves. Agree regarding the connection to Konitz. Loren Stillman the excellent young alto player from NYC has something of Ortega/ Konitz in his tone too.

Tinklers "Dance of Dilulian" on Origin is really excellent, just received it but I can already tell it will have plenty of spins.

much as I like "Charmediterranéen" but I find that 'Round About A Midsummer's Dream' is the better record. The Hendrix like guitar sounds sooo good with the baroque influences.

When and on what label etc was the "Queens suite" issued, i never heard of it

was this a double LP when it was originally issued as the CD is quite lengthy.

CDUNIVERSE have this available for preordering but descibe it as a SACD only. Anyone know if this is correct. Iyer is a fantastic pianist however I am not prepared at present to by a SACD palyer just to hear this disc however good it might be. I can't find an "Artists House" web site to check any of this out.

I have the 4CD set from a few years ago. I find myself listen to it in little bites and often wondering why I dont know the material better than I do. I can understand the concerns re "Chug chug" but sometimes thats just great to listen to. The Annie Ross sides don't do much for me though. I spun it the other night after the CJB materials and the original 4tet did seem limited by comparison. That said it sometimes just hits the right spot. ( of my left cerebral hemisphere)

I order 2 CDs at a time keeping the cost of the discs below $28 which easy enough with new releases at CDUniverse, that avoids customs charges which, once were as high as £8 for an order valued at just over the £18 limit !!! Still works out as around £11.30 for each Conn.or whatever and all faster than any of the online retailers here in the UK and as Claude points outthe Conns aint crippled. I am waiting on the Hill and another disc by SYOTOS band - Trouble in Paradise.

Any one know the provinance of the KD Time CDs being offered by Fresh Sounds in Spain, they look interesting but I have worries regarding their legitimacy and sound. Anyone tried these yet. The Booker Little and Roach titles are also tempting too. http://www.freshsoundrecords.com/newreleases.php
