  1. Looks like we'll be having a couple grilled filets (w/Jack Daniels wood chips for smoky goodness), scalloped potatoes and grilled asparagus. I love when it approaches *asparagus season* and the price starts to come down!
  2. I think that's a very reasonable request and I think it's a given that everyone here can (and most will) honor that.
  3. Hope you get over your cold soon!
  4. I disagree. The letter 'S' reminds me of Saddam. also, Sonny = Sunni
  5. "He has also been physically effected by exposure to mold and chemical infestation." Wow- what's the deal with that?
  6. I remember a side he did circa 1976 w/Richie Cole (when Richie was playing) called *Battle of the Saxes*. There was a tune called "Harold's House of Jazz" which was a contrafact on Cherokee changes. I'd like to see that one come out on CD. Edit: I neglected to mention that it was burnin'!
  7. Kevin ruined Christmas.
  8. Yeah, well good luck with all that.
  9. I tried it a couple times in the car when it was all I could get on the radio- it made me sleepy and bored. I found I preferred silence. Sometimes there are some interesting grooves, but they never seem to go anywhere. It's like there's an "emotion limiter" kicking in or something. I guess I prefer *rough* jazz. I don't waste time or energy dissing smooth jazz; I tend to just ignore it. Welcome to the board, nemo7, but I doubt you're going to find much interest in that type of music here (see next post).
  10. Oh man, that's cold!
  11. Shouldn't have gone for that fourth helping of turducken.
  12. Is that the same as "pffff"?
  13. Overstock.com has one left for $191.
  14. This is what I was wondering. Strings I believe is a double LP- think all those would fit on three CDs? I'll have to check the length of each one, but I don't think any of 'em are super long. Definitely a candidate. Nice lists, guys.
  15. Have them all, Love them all!!! Is there a list?
  16. Bob Brookmeyer Through A Looking Glass(1982; w/Tom Harrell, Dick Oatts, Mel Lewis, Jim McNeeley, Marc Johnson) Maynard Ferguson Live at Jimmy's
  17. Mark Pender's brother Tom (a guitarist) is in my jazz arranging class. FWIW.
  18. If there is a thread like this already, I'll delete this one. I thought it might be nice to start a new one. A couple selections from my wish-it-was-available-on-CD list: Horace Silver Silver 'n'......series (Brass, Wood, Percussion, Strings, Voices) Sonny Stitt Dumpy Mama
  19. Wow, I didn't know he played left handed. Live and learn.
  20. Hey! That trombonist is playing left-handed! Looks like it's time for the piano player to take his medicine.
  21. Like at Blockbuster video? I hate that place. Including that bullshit "no more late fees" thing. What a load of crap.
  22. My guess is that would be a "no". B-) I heard this somewhere some time ago.
  23. I'd heard at one point he was going to write another volume to follow The Swing Era. Is that true?

  25. That was him, huh? I always felt sorry for that guy scuffling on the bass clarinet part. I wish Columbia had allowed Gil the additional rehearsal time he requested for that session.
