  1. Great news! Very happy for you. And welcome back.
  2. I remember House Party a little, but I definitely remember People Are Funny.
  3. Great stuff! Thanks!
  4. He was 97- I admit I didn't realize he was still around. I grew up watching his show and his interviews w/kids. Art Linkletter
  5. Cool! Does it work on Stan Kenton?
  6. Thanks for posting those- very interesting. Too bad they all had to disguise their voices, it would have been nice to hear them talk more. Yeah, even Louis' grunts give him away!
  7. I'll bet they elope. Can't elope.
  8. Happy Birthday Jim! Glad you get to be home for a while.
  9. I sense schtick.
  10. A few 12 tone jazz compositions that come to mind are Trane's Miles' Mode, Bill Evans Twelve Tone Tune and Bob Brookmeyer's ABC Blues.
  11. I don't think I could handle a cruise ship gig. I think I'd jump.
  12. With Hank Jones on piano!
  13. I'm surprised that no one has mentioned the AccuJac. Inhibited by the boundaries of good taste perhaps?
  14. I think you made a good choice- I've been very happy with mine. I've had it for about two years.
  15. Wow, thanks for posting that, I hadn't revisited the blog since I first read it. Lots of light shed on the situation now. I understand the point of him keeping the apartment, that makes sense now. The sad part of the story is instead the apparent exploitation of the situation by the landlord and reporter. The great Hank Jones deserves better.
  16. Happy Birthday young fella. All the best to you and Ann.
  17. Do we really need another bluenote82? Seriously, I doubt he'd be interested. I think (as paps said) he's being youthfully rebellious (as one should be at that age)and I'd expect the last thing he wants to do is hear a bunch of old dudes tell him what to listen to. He needs to discover the music on his own terms.
  18. I do likes me some good grub (as much as the next bloke), but I'll take the Haute 5s & 7s, given a choice.
  19. What a wondeful story. His kindness towards others is indeed nice, but I'm not sure what to make of the isolation aspect of the story. It almost seems s little sad, but maybe it's what he wanted. Did he not have a house somewhere? I thought I remember Gene Lees writing about visiting him at his home.
  20. Listened to this today. Great music.
