  1. Wow, Ubu- I haven't come across too many who own that very rare CD!
  2. Happy Birthday Mark!
  3. I did some arrangements for Jodie for that record! I remember doing Lester Left Town and a couple others.
  4. Geez, is it STILL Erik's birthday?
  5. Since it's now the University of North Texas, shouldn't the radio station call letters be "K-U-........oops, never mind.
  6. BTW, those solos on Walkin', Night in Tunisia & Donna Lee are MF masterpieces! Absolutely stunning command of the language & the horn. God Bless Clifford Brown.
  7. :tup
  8. Especially because he says something like "I must go now..." at the end of the last tune. Made for a interesting story but turned out to be a year earlier.
  9. Happy Birthday Erik! You've had quite a year, hope next year is as great!
  10. Shorty AND Jug! Let the celebration begin!!
  11. Freddy Webster! One of the first threads I ever started back in the day.
  12. Happy Bright Birth Moment!
  13. According to AMG he was born in 1921, so he was either 88 or 89. Chuck, Any chance the LP will be reissued on CD? I was planning a late fall issue but it feels a little creepy now. I will see how I feel about it later. I think it's a great idea, Chuck. Not creepy at all. The jazz world (such as it is) needs to be more aware of this man.
  14. Happy Happy Mrs. B3er!
  15. Damn, I'm really sorry to hear this. Eddie was a great swinging player and a wonderful person. I'm honored to have gotten to know him in Chicago.
  16. I'd even settle for Platonically Wealthy.
  17. I hope so! .....and Happy Birthday, Freddie! Thanks for leaving all that great music with us.
  18. I really like the whole shebang. Always have.
  19. And a happy April 1st to you too!
  20. I've seen both b5 and #4, but I use the #4 designation because it's the fourth that's altered, not the fifth (like in a lydian scale). I also use the #11 designation- to me that implies voicing the chord with both the fifth and the raised fourth. The + has been used to indicate both "add" and "raised", and due to this confusion I don't use it at all (I use # or the word "add"). I also enclose the chord alterations in parentheses to avoid confusion, as in Db9 vs. D(b9). Without the enclosure, some might interpret that to be a Db chord. Unfortunately there is not much consistency in jazz chord nomenclature. My choices are based on what I consider to be common practice in my circles of experience.
  21. Eric Gravatt is a bad MF. Whatever happened to him? Last I heard he was living in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area.
