Very sad to hear of this. I had the opportunity to perform with the Creative Opportunity Orchestra when I lived in Austin- much fun. Tina was a good person and provided many great circumstances for like-minded musicians to assemble and perform. RIP

Thanks for posting that, aloc. Great essay. I just visited my dog in KC (he lives with my ex)-I see him about once a year. He was so happy to see me, and he immediately launched into little behaviors that he only does with me. He's 11 years old and doing great and I miss him a lot. I have his pic on my cell phone. Damn.

Anyway, I really like the Freddie! Great to hear him at full strength. Nice band too- Louis Hayes is loose and Elvin-like at times. Roland Hanna is a bad MF. Great stuff, glad it was released.

Definitely, that's what I plan to do. I really don't need to buy as much music as I do.

I'm disappointed to hear about this price hike. I've really enjoyed E-Music, I've found a lot of great music there (most recently the Criss Cross catalog), but I don't think I'll be staying on with the higher prices. At any rate, I need to cut some of these monthly membership fees from my budget.

Just pulled up this thread as I'm watching Cannonball's band from 1963 (Switzerland/Germany, Jazz Icon series). Nat, Yusef, Zawinul, Sam Jones and Louis Hayes. Tight band, great arrangements and a serious groove from the rhythm section! The sound is really good too. To respond to Late's request from March (better Late than Never ) there is an Impro-Jazz DVD with Dexter ('69) and Ben ('64) that is pretty nice. Also found this very late one which I haven't heard:
