  1. Hot. Humid. Rain every day. Waaaaah.
  2. Harry Blackstone Joe Segal Steven Seagal
  3. You guys do realize this thread is five years old? Not to say that Billy May doesn't deserve ongoing appreciation, of course.
  4. I had some of those once. I believe it was prior to a Weather Report concert circa 1980. Can't say fer sure. :eye:
  5. I'm partial to this one.
  6. I've just been listening to some GR- I've been a fan of his music for a long time. One favorite is his composition All About Rosie (recorded by the Gerry Mulligan CJB). Anyone spend any time with his Lydian Chromatic Concept materials? I would love to have taken a music theory course from him. Very sorry to hear he passed. What great music he left for us to enjoy! RIP
  7. No problem. I understand that this kind of thread is considered by many to be a waste of space, but I have to say it's also an act of kindness that kind of made my day. It's nice to feel appreciated in a community of which I have been a part for so long. So thank you, Jim for the thought.
  8. Sorry if this thread offended. Go ahead and delete it if you wish, Jsngry. Guess I should have stayed in the mountains!
  9. Hey guys! Just got back last night from a long stretch of jazz camps/mini-vacation trips in Missouri, Nebraska, Colorado and California (starting in early June). I spent about three weeks in Colorado and had time to enjoy some hiking in the Rockies. I sure love the mountains- I'd much prefer to live out there, maybe someday. Meanwhile, I'm back in the land of humidity. I got to do a lot of playing with some wonderful players, so it was a good summer and I feel recharged for the school year. I've been reading the board when possible but haven't had much to contribute.
  10. Sorry to hear of her passing but glad her suffering is over. Cancer sucks. I had The Poster® on my wall when I was in high school. It made a young man very happy. RIP
  11. Sad news and too soon (he's the same age as me). I would have loved to see him pull off a resurrection of his career, who knows if it would have happened. I enjoyed his music and videos in his peak years, amazing to sustain a career for 40 years in the pop world. As I watch off and on the non-stop TV coverage of his passing (sorry, Farrah), I can't help but feel the irony that the media folk who are praising his musical genius are the same ones who dogged his every move and were so quick to exploit any of his freaky off-the-wall (no pun intended) behavior.
  12. Yes. Dinner at McDonald's, Larry? Is that really the best you can do?
  13. A very Happy Birthday Peter, and many more!
  14. A Tongue Supreme? Giant Slurps? Big Lick?
  15. What a relief. Until the last part I thought this story was going in an entirely different direction.
  16. That was the one with the Vince Mendoza arrangements, IIRC. I enjoyed that too. When I heard her sing on Herbie's Gershwin record (on The Man I Love) I never would have guessed it was Joni. Her voice has certainly aged in an interesting way over the years- I'm guessing much of that was from smoking.
  17. You are correct, sir..... RIP
  18. A definite favorite Joni side.
  19. Home from a long road trip. My own bed, bath and coffee. And happy Father's Day to all you dads. And Lon- nice to hear your mom is doing well!
