  1. That really sucks. Did they really put windows on the front of the building? Wow. Where else would you guys play? I'm having a hard time remembering what else is close to Michigan Ave? You need to have Art's put a stage in. LOL Dagwoods? too small. There has to be somewhere. People will follow you guys, for sure.
  2. Yeah, Brandon. I still have my copy of U2. I had an extra, sealed in a long box, but I sold it years ago to a friend. I remember snatching up the last 2 copies and telling our distributor that we had sold them. LOL
  3. I did do it (make changes in the volume) and I regret using the tools I did. It really screwed up the sound quality on those tunes I messed with. Unless you are using a professional audio editing program (WaveLab, Audition) I would advise against it. There is a tool called 'replay gain' which works when you encode to mp3 (lossy) or even FLAC (lossless!), but I doubt that most people would want to be tied to their computers when listening to the blindfold tests.
  4. Hey, it's not that much more of an expense. Plus, I'm getting my tax refund in a week or so. Count me in as a distributor! I can handle a dozen burns (48 CDs) and mailings. So to answer your questions... 1. About 50 at the very most. 2. Length hasn't been a problem 3. You're not going to be shot. B-)
  5. I met Wesley a few times. He lived in the same building as a friend of mine. I used to carry his albums on consignment at the record store I managed. I still wish I had the message he left on my answering machine, complete with musical accompaniment. "Jim Dye. When are you going to buy some of my CD's. Rock over London, Rock On Chicago." etc.... Contrary to what you guys say, I believe that it was his musical career that helped him get OFF the streets. Wesley had a few people looking out for him. He also sold some original artwork. If it wasn't for the music, he would have died a long before he actually did.

If it was the artists decision, I have to respect it. I strongly disagree, but I have to respect it. I didn't think that MC had anything to do with it. It sounded like corporate America at its finest. You can't change the past.

We all need to write a collective open letter to Blue Note denouncing this censorship and have it published in Down Beat or Jazz Times. If we all chipped in 5 bucks, i'll bet we could do it. Have it be a joint effort between Jazz Corner, AAJ and Organissimo. This is bullshit.

I guess they have to pull Horace Silver - Blowin' The Blues Away because of the song The Baghdad Blues. What a bunch of spineless corporate idiots.

    Boney James

A couple of years ago, I tried getting a job with the Bank of New York. At the time, I was really disappointed that things didn't work out. I wanted to answer my office phone "BONY, James."
  10. Name the elevator music being played in this famous scene.
  11. I am loving this disc! I gave it a run through today and will post some guesses and thoughts shortly.
  12. My wife hates my Can-Am's too. When I bought them, I still had thousands of CD's. I sold most of my collection 10 years ago to help pay my way through college. So now they sit in the garage. I am working my way back though. I could probably fill one up again, but I still have 2 extra units just like the one above along with the LP stand in forest green. Anyone interested?
  13. My favorite: "Yo momma so fat she got to iron her pants on the driveway"

  15. I haven't noticed either. If anything, I think everyone has been much nicer now that the election is over.
  16. Arthur Miller was the third. Tyrone Davis passed a couple days ago. Death of a Salesman affected me deeply when I first read it. It still does. R.I.P. WKCR memorial broadcast alert! Phil Schapp is reading The Crucible right now!
  17. Thanks! I'm shocked that they gave me my own space. I actually don't mind sharing an office. I like the other 2 guys I work with. I'll be losing a window and the company of my co-workers, but gaining the ability to jam out a bit. Plus I can put up my framed jazz pics. I lost my office at home when we had our second child.

    Tyrone Davis

Damn. This collection is a great place to start. http://www.demonmusicgroup.co.uk/content/180.chtml R.I.P. Tyrone!
  19. They are playing the Sermon now!!!
  20. Hey Lon! I'm getting my own office next week as well! I have a Tivoli Model One radio. It has an auxiliary mini jack input in the back so you can hook your computer or ipod or anything right up. I think it sounds great. It's mono, but in an office setting, I almost prefer it that way. Tivoli does make a two piece model two if you care to go the stereo route. The model two even supports a subwoofer! Worth a listen if you can find a dealer in your area.
  21. Hey everyone, put your favorite album or picture of Jimmy Smith in your avatar. It'll be our way of having the flag at half staff. R.I.P. Mr. Smith.
