Favorite cartoon DVD box sets?
Jim Dye replied to trane_fanatic's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
I used to have the Complete Tex Avery box on LaserDisc. Now if someone would put that set on DVD, I could die a happy man! -
Happy Father's Day to Organissimo Dads
Jim Dye replied to maren's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
Thanks Maren and Rachel! I'm going to be spending the day out in the yard with my family. Live Kevin said, vegging out is not an option! Happy Father's Day everyone! KB, all the best to you and your family. -
The Titans drafted Chris Brown out of Colorado last year. He looked pretty good in the few games he played last year. Injury kept him out for much of the season. On the Eddie George front, things have cooled down a bit. Most people are now expecting Tennessee to cut the deal and be able to sign him in a few weeks. That would be great. I would love to see him finish his career as a Titan. Also, Eddie is getting married on Sunday, so most of the press around here has kept off his back.

If Detroit had lost Game 5, I had a scapegoat. Aretha Franklin! Now, I love Aretha. You can't diss the Queen of Soul without reason. However, what was she doing LIP-SYNCHING the national anthem? Maybe she was under the weather. You gotta bring your A game in the finals! Thankfully no scapegoat was needed. These playoffs were so much fun to watch. From 1986 - 1992, I watched nearly every game. This brought back so many memories from my late teens / early 20's. A bunch of us had a party and called it 'Pat Riley Night.' Everyone slicked their hair straight back using a ton of gel. There was a beer called 11-11. We had a drinking game where every time there was an 11 on the screen, or a multiple of 11, you had to take a drink. Isaiah Thomas scores! (He was #11): take a drink. 11 seconds left on the shot clock: take a drink. Score is 22-33: take a drink. Personal foul on Rick Mahorn (#44): take a drink. It didn't take very long to get wasted.

Dallas needs to be courting Eddie George if they want an RB. Today is the first day of Titans mini camp and the press is all a flutter about what Eddie is going to do. He's pretty pissed that he still has no deal, and the longer the Titans wait to sign him, the harder it's going to be for him to find a job elsewhere. Silly salary cap.

If you like old photographs, as I do
Jim Dye replied to Christiern's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
I found out recently that I may be distantly related to the gentleman in the fur coat. Former Chicago mayor William "Big Bill" Thompson. I still have to do some more research, though. -

http://www.deepseasoftware.com/apps/cdsd2/ CD Spin Doctor comes with Toast Titanium 6 as part of the package. I haven't used it, but it looks like it might do the job. -Jim P.S. Did you ever get my package?

It's not the 'Washington Native Americans' anymore. It's the 'Potomac Drainage Basin Indigenous Persons**'. **Thanks to Gregg Easterbrook.

Yup! As soon as I can find a job, we're moving back home. Now that we have a couple of children, we want to be closer to our family and our friends.

My son Benjamin. This picture was taken when he was 1-week-old. He will be 3-months-old tomorrow!

You know you just can't up and leave. Soon you'll be saying, "Just when I think I'm out, they pull me back in.." Seriously, good luck. I have enjoyed your outstanding album covers and your candid posts. Like Lon said, I've also felt like a kindred spirit. All the best!

Happy Birthday, Ray!

I've stayed out of this thread until now, but i've been following it as well as the Pistons all post-season. I'm a Pistons fan since pre-Palace days when they played in that trash can called the Silverdome. Great win tonight! SS1, I must take exception to your statement that Shaq has the most powerful ass in the universe. Anyone who ever watched the Bad Boys knows that the most powerful ass belongs to Rick Mahorn! Go Pistons!!

Terrible news! Just awful. Steve is such an original.

Can't wait to check out the CD and the exhibit! If anyone is interested, my local cool record store also has copies of this on vinyl!

Petition: Make Ogre-sized M&M's Standard!!
Jim Dye replied to Kevin Bresnahan's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
I just discovered the wonder of these 'ogre-sized' beauties yesterday! They had a whole end cap full of these, sale-priced for 1.68 at Target. MMMMMMMMM! -
Happy B-Day, Jim!

I'm guilty. Life has been very busy for me the last couple months. I haven't had the chance to comment on rockefeller center's or RDK's tests yet. I have been listening to them and I have really enjoyed what I have heard, but finding the time to comment has been difficult. As most of you knw, I have a new baby in the house. I also was recently laid off. Believe it or not, I have less time now to post than I did when I was working! Go figure. I have assisted the compilers of several other tests. And, I have sent copies of previous BFT's to people who have requested them, as well as send out a test of my own. So I figure I'm OK in the karma department. Ray, You're bonus disc is amazing! I haven't had that much fun listening to a disc in a long long time. My comments will be forthcoming as soon as possible. Thanks, Jim

...but doesn't he play...PIANO???? Wow couw! More great vinyl finds! Thanks for sharing these.

Dap-Dippin' with Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings
Jim Dye replied to JSngry's topic in Recommendations
I am bummin' real hard too. They were here in Nashville on the 12th. I had already made other plans because it was our 3rd wedding anniversary. -sigh- I made it up to myself by getting all the Sugarman Three records. -
I am using my real name as my user name again . I felt like a stranger when visiting and posting on the board as 'Irwin Mainway'. I've been using my real name on various jazz boards since 1996 so why change it? Jim Dye is BACK.

Another vote here for an iPod. It worked great with my PC. It works even better with my new eMac. I picked up the 10 gig model as a closeout at Target for only 209.99!

Hey rockefeller center, Just a quick note to let you know I haven't forgotten about you! Due to some unforseen problems, I have been without a computer all week. However, I just set up my new eMac and this is my first post! I have been listening to the BFT and I think it is my favorite of all the tests so far. I haven't peeked at this thread yet, although it is killing me. I'll try to post my thoughts over the weekend, but I have company coming to town so I may not get to it until monday night. Thanks again for a great listen! Jim Dye

I received my distributor package earlier in the week. Thanks RC! I have only had a chance to listen through the disc once and I really enjoyed it. I am away from home for the next few days. I loaded the disc in my iPod so I can spend some time listening while travelling. I'll post my thoughts after I have a chance to give it a more complete listen.
