Don't know about a second drummer on that date but Eddie Bert is quoted in John Chilton's 'The Song of the Hawk' as having 'vivid memories' of the session:
When I recorded with him (Hawkins), Billy Taylor, Milt Hinton, Jo Jones and Emmett Berry, he had just gotten off a plane and his horn had come through baggage. So we were forty-five minutes into the date and he was still oiling his horn. We had no music and the producer got nervous. Well, we did the whole date with head arrangements and finished on time.
