Just saw the draw for the first time, if there are no upsets Roger would have to beat #6 Cilic then #2 Nadal and #1 Djokovic. Biggest win for Sharapova in a long time: #30 beat #3 Wozniaki. Venus lost meekly to the top seed, which spares us another Serena v Venus Slam match. ESPN must be pissed, that was their 7 pm Eastern match Sunday night all lined up until Venus messed it up.

Is this to update the info on goal/dollars received and maybe get some steady dollars or was the November bumpage not so effective and the money needs to come in again now?

If Holt was on multiple records and club dates wouldn't that be an indication Jackie liked his shtick?

Don't forget, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, and some times, it rains.

I am yet to be convinced that having a bunch of "pitchers" is better than having several dominant starters who can pitch at least six extremely effective innings and turn it over to a few dominant arms in the bullpen. Guess I am just an old fogey. Something to consider if teams really adopted that approach - it will completely change the measurement of pitching success because wins will be a random attribution by the official scorer and the end result will be a lot of pitchers making the baseball version of a "middle class" income and far fewer pulling down big bucks, for being, er, big bucks on the mound.

I am like you Brad only less time spent watching. Hoping to watch some this holiday weekend though as for once the office is closed for MLK Jr on Monday. Glad to hear that Roger played so well but I have to say I have my doubts he's got another Slam in him, with Djokovic and Nadal both back and playing well.

Getting to the end of a large discogs order - was this one issued at the time? I did not know Mainstream to be active in 1965. Anyway had to point out the wonderful quote by Clark Terry at the end of the liners: "It seemed to me there's too much put-down music, put-on music, hurray-for-me music and the-hell-with-everybody music. So we thought we'd have some compatible music."

All I know is that the Yankees took the last alternative to a Kimbrel reunion off the board, leaving the Red Sox with two possibilities: A reunion, which will aggravate the hell out of me and probably mean that even though I plan to purchase Extra Innings this season, I will go to bed before Kimbrel enters, to avoid the headache and stress; or The Phillies, losing out on one of their offensive targets will throw money at Kimbrel and the Red Sox with the highest or second highest payroll in the sport, will be left with a journeyman who was actually demoted to the Japanese minors last season, or Matt Barnes and his two career saves. Fuckin disaster either way. Isn't "never" a bit of an exaggeration? You see it all the time if the player has a bit of speed and its critical that he get to second base late in the game. Otherwise how do you know its an automatic out? You want your guy to get thrown out at 3b on a double? Or fail to score from first on the same?

https://www.dustygroove.com/item/371496/Jimmy-Witherspoon:Hunh Never heard of this one before, saw a cheap copy on discogs - the sidemen certainly caught my eye (Charles Brown, Red Holloway, Earl Hooker, Art Hillery on organ, Mel Brown). Definitely enjoying this ...

What's the difference between a sopranino sax and a soprano sax?

Actually the remaining question is who will say "Is it Live or is it Memorex?" first. Pretty good percentage on the guesses at least! Thanks Bill glad you are enjoying the tunes.

Thanks as always for your thoughts Thom, I'm glad you enjoyed a good chunk of it.

Never heard of this one, so I picked it up. So used to Cedar with Smilin' Billy and either Sam or David on bass.

I do hear there is something about a mile long ...

Does anyone else think that for this to happen during the 80th anniversary thing that Zev needed to be hired sooner? What is the lead time on releases like these? The other thing that comes strongly to mind is that these may be unknown live recordings by JoeHen, Mogie, Byrd, and since they were signed to BN at the time, Zev needed to come on board to get them issued on the label? For example, aside from Blues for Tatum are there any other Morgan sessions known in the discography?

************************************************** Feldman will focus on excavating hitherto unreleased music by Blue Note artists. “I have a whole list of projects I’m preparing for them right now,” Feldman says. “We’re just getting started here. I met with Don and Justin just before the break, and I had a list of 21 or 22 different projects. … I wanted to land on my feet running.” He adds, “We’ve been talking about tapes that I’ve found by artists ranging from [pianist] McCoy Tyner or [saxophonist] Joe Henderson to [trumpeters] Donald Byrd and Lee Morgan. There are some incredible things that are out there. … I want to be the guy to bring them some ideas — a number of boxed sets, a number of special projects, frontline new releases — and identify some things in the catalog that we can be working on.” ***************************************************************************

I just remembered - Zev is a big Three Sounds/Gene Harris guy, made the Live at the Penthouse set happen at Resonance as well as the two live dates they released of Gene in the UK. So maybe this could mean the unissued Sounds tracks could find their way out? Or, combine his love of Gene and Grant Green and put out that date??!!!

"Archival" = unissued sessions?? That would be something but bean counters would still have to approve.
