  1. Odd that Mosaic never posted sound samples of the Herman Mars set like they do with just about all of these. Is that a question of rights, or more Mosaic "marketing"? The Desmond set doesn't have any either.
  2. I love that album. Thanks for the reminder, need to play it today.
  3. Per this bandcamp page they released it in 2011
  4. This is great music. But I always get the feeling that these head melodies from 70s jazz really inspired whomever was writing game show or sit-com theme songs back then. Same feeling from some of Tolliver's work from back then too. Or maybe some of these players were involved in ghost writing those tracks too? Once they break out of the head into the solos that goes away.
  5. There's actually a Publix boycott going on for reasons unrelated to Covid that I recently read about. Their pharmacy disorganization is kind of surprising though. Hope there's some accessible alternatives (dept of public health maybe?) that you discover and can take advantage of.
  6. Nah, keep it. That should move you to priority in the Covid vaccine line IMO.
  7. Then you have a non-Conn, non-Rare Groove live release like Dexter's The Squirrel released after both of those series had started. CD first in '97. Probably outside of the parameters of this question due to it not really being a vaulted item. @Rooster_Tiesweigh in on that... @Dan Gould here's another Standards: All unreleased after the first 5 tracks. US domestic CD first in '98.
  8. Yeah, this gets me away from spreadsheets...also of note is that the Green Japan LP was first released under a different title, "Remembering..." just as the Clark, before they both became "Standards" in the US. Varying cover art as well, with the Japanese LPs being more interesting than the US Reid Miles tribute attempts.
  9. Sonny Clark's? Only released before that as Blues in the Night (or Trio Vol 3) in Japan on LP. Oh, and Grant Green's Standards. Japan first with LP, then US CD.
  10. One source: https://darktree.bandcamp.com/album/live-at-bing-theatre-los-angeles-1985
  11. An LP & a CD at the same time, man As well the CD has two tracks the LP does not.
  12. Add the second side of Quebec’s Easy Living as well as it had concurrent (non DMM) LP and CD releases in ‘87.
  13. Got it. Was going to throw in ZTs Blues but that matches the Green set in terms of DMM LP first, then CD later.
  14. Would Grant Green’s Born to be Blue meet the parameters of the question? I don’t think it was part of a 2-fer, and its first LP release was an ‘85 DMM. CD came in ‘89 and was individually released, so pre-Conn. Mosaic set that included this session came in ‘90 on both LP and CD.
  15. Yeah, on my list now. And that Turrentine Bluish Bag has a track (or 2...) but not every song on this LP set: Oh, and now I read the title of pre-Conn. Lol. Drinking some more coffee so my comprehension level can improve. I'll shut up now. (and delete that rambling post )
  16. That's right- hardly any! Maybe he was referencing Roscoe Mitchell's album from your label? Some recent discoveries: Stephanie Santiago from London Miir from Gary, IN Tawiah from London KeiyaA from Chicago And Jamila Woods also from Chicago Far from a Neo Soul overview, but just some leads on what I think are some talented singers.
  17. Man, really? Just seems so shallow a pool to relegate oneself into. Wade on out toward the deeper waters big fella...
  18. Been streaming the Blue Mitchell Blue Note records: The Thing to Do, Step Lightly, Down With It! & Boss Horn. Favorites of this group are Down & Boss. Boss benefits from Duke Pearson arrangements, which I really enjoy. Love coming across those on those Mobley records as well. Pearson was a talented dude... Also, I love Junior Cook's playing. Sue me.
  19. Nat on cornet in 2 different quartet settings. Natch!
  20. Wow, great news
