  1. Checking the CD Universe site they are also announcing a JVC release which to me looks the same as Vol 1 advertised on CD BABY I wonder if it is?? The price is nearly double. I think that they announce the japanese issue (VICJ 61503), hence the price. I checked the CD Universe site. They announce the japanese release (VICJ 61503), hence nearly the double price.

  3. Hi folks, I much loved this double CD but I regret that it does not include Billie's Bounce (10:45) which was present on the first but partial edition of this concert released in 1995 on the Japanese TDK CD TDCN-5172 "Art Pepper-Live in far North Japan". There was nevertheless the place to enclose it. First CD lasts 57:37, second one 51:19. I wonder if the term complete concert can apply to this double CD. 4. Very sad news. RIP Andrew! Claude
  5. Hi, I confirm that Billie's Bounce is a trio track by Tete Montoliu (p), George Leclerc (b), José Bourguignon (dm) as indicated on the Red Bird art cover LP. There is a nice bass solo. The exact timing is 5:26 (Casio stopwatch) and not 5:38 as indicated on art cover (maybe they included applause). The exact reference is Red Bird Records RB-103 (released in 1991). Regards, Claude
  6. Hello folks, Thanks a lot for your messages. I'm now on route 66. Claude

  9. I made the same remark about another soundtrack "Un témoin dans la ville" by Kenny Dorham and my friend Barney Wilen. I have the movie on video tape on which one can hear some excerpts not on the CD in sale. My friend Marcel Romano told me that it was a current practice in the 50's.
  10. Hi folks, I received my copy last month. A really great work especially for the January 26, 1950 session with Bud Powell which is at last complete for the very first time. Both takes of Strike up the band are present. When I dream of you and A Lover is Blue are not included in the box set because Sonny Stitt is not present.
  11. Non Bertrand, Grant Green ne joue pas sur ce titre. Amicalement, Claude
  12. Hi folks, Sorry, but Francis Paudras never told me about the tapes recorded by Bud's father when his son was 10 in 1934. He may have heard them when he was in the United States, but I'm sure that he didn't have them in Paris. Maybe Celia could tell us more. She can be contacted via Piadrum Records owned by Miss Jessica Shih. jessica@piadrum.com
  13. Hi folks, Effectively, I have this tape from the Chan Richardson's collection, but I promised to not diffuse it. I wanted only to confirm that it exists, and that you can try to get it. But at all, I don't want to be at the origin of a quarrel between collectors. Sorry! This tape was sold at Guernsey's auction on February 20, 2005. Below, an excerpt of the material sold at this auction: Lot 155: 1 tape - $531 Probably dubbed as the stock is 50's but the recording is 1/4 indicating mid-60's or later. May 23, 1953. 'Cool Blues, 'All The Things You Are' and Lullaby of Birdland'. Strangely, once again no mention again in the catalogue that it was a recording of Dizzy's All-Stars? July 1952 a short, faint piece of 'Tunisia'; May 30 1953 Previously issued on Bird at Birdland, Charly Records. June 27, 1953. Unissued recordings and no discography contains reference to this date. Tracks are: Star Eyes, Moose the Mooch, Lullaby of Birdland, Ornithology, Lullaby of Birdland (sic).May 17, 1950 Birdland again! See above Track 2&3: More of the same. See above. Both sessions with Bud Powell to EKE BBB My Charlie Parker disco is no longer available. Sorry!
  14. Hi, Yes, I can confirm: there is really a tape or Bird/Stitt/Mobley, Birdland 1953.
  15. When I was in San Francisco on buisness I used to like to go to the Tower which wasn't too far from the hotel that I stayed at(the St Francis Westin). Is that the Tower you were referring to?If it is that's too bad because it was pretty good. When I was in San Francisco on vacation I used to like to go to the Tower which wasn't too far from the Howard Johnson hotel where we stayed. It was the first time I saw a so big record store. Sad to hear about their situation.

  17. There are 25 volumes in the complete series issued some years ago. You will find on the Philology site, more material on volume 26 to 83. The owner can send you the complete list. A really crazy work! For fanatics only! Good luck!
  18. I'm pretty sure they will be available to general public. The other two DVD's produced by them - "Marvin Gaye - The Real Years" and "Muddy Waters - Classic Concerts" - are available through Tower, CDUniverse, etc.... I think that quote might be referring to their raw material - stuff not used in DVD's. Thanks Chalupa. Have a nice week-end! Claude
  19. Hi folks, Are you sure that the Art Blakey live in Belgium 1958 DVD and the others will be on sale on next september 26?. It is said on their site: Note: Reelin' In The Years does not supply our material to fans, collectors or other private entities. We will only send material out for projects to clients in the entertainment industry. Thanks in advance!

Je n'ai donc pu comparer avec les autres rééditions. Désolé. A bientôt, "vieux frère"! Claude, your friend
