There is still a copy of #2 in one of the Ann Arbor Borders (where I bought mine in 2005)
-
I got an autographed copy from Downtown Music Gallery. It's a massive set; lots to digest. I'll be exploring this one for months. The booklet has comments on each set by a member of the band, among other essays. I haven't seen the DVD yet. As for the music, I've only made it through the first two tracks of disc one, so I don't have much to say about it yet.

reissued or not, it's a good one. Get it!

There's something about Ferrell and his movies that seems a little too "lowest common denominator" to me
-
After shipping & tax, it totals about $22 for the 5-CD set. isn't this the out-of-print metal spine box?
-
This album has been the most difficult one for me to "get". I have found it easier to listen to some Braxton than this one!

I have the weekly podcasts on my ipod

Best Buy Confirms It Has Secret Website
GregK replied to alocispepraluger102's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
I hate Best Buy. Hate it. I hate the shitty music they have playing in the store, which is always at least 10x too loud than any decent person needs it to be. And I really hate that they have these "exclusives" for new releases, like bonus discs or something like that that you can only get by buying the CD there. If you like the artist and want to get these rare tunes, you have to buy it at Best Buy! -
are there any smaller combinations within this set, or does every performance feature the 12+1-tet?
-
i have only ever been able to find the one with Joe Henderson, and the above mentioned ECM one. Are the rest out of print?
-
I'm so glad there is a DVD with this. I have never seen Braxton play, and at least for me sometimes it is difficult to pick out who is playing what, when. Can't wait! I understand he will be at Downtown Music Gallery signing copies of this box, and that some of those should be available from their web site.

I actually sent them an email asking why some people are still getting the lower price while others aren't, and received the following reply: I'm not sure if that's true, but that was the response. I enrolled during the first month it opened, at the $4.99 price, and I was hit with the increase

I haven't checked this out yet, but thought it might be of interest to some of ya. It's the remaster from the Collector's Club 16, which was sent out at the wrong speed. We were promised a free remaster back in '02, which never happened until this download, last November. It's a good show, but the sound isn't anywhere near high quality

what, was Wallace in the audience at these shows?
-
Hah. Wait until he finds out they don't allow ANY politics over there! what else does he talk about? Too "smart ass" times 2 Greg. Chris is an important person in jazz history. Leave "politics" for a minute and give him credit for his musical works. Music is the reason for this forum. It is?? Then why do we have a political section? Please. I've given him credit many, many times for his past, his knowledge, his achievements, etc. I've valued his comments, pictures, reviews. You've never made a sarcastic comment here??

Warning - New Phishing Expedition

hasn't this one been around for years? I'm sure I saw that one at least a year ago, maybe more -
do you get credit for purchases made at Target.com? It is powered by amazon (whatever "powered by" means), and it looks like amazon, except it's red. Same cart, checkout process, etc.

"Accelerator Whip Ghost Trance Music," to be exact. Compositions 350-358. ...and to be picky, it's the 12+1tet, FWIW! Great band - Taylor Ho Bynum, Nicole Mitchell, James Fei, etc. etc. etc. I think I mentioned in another thread, but I've been lucky enough to hear/see a bit of the material, and it's really fantastic. I really hope people who were put off GTM by its earlier (more austere sounding?) incarnations don't shy away from this. And Braxton blows some incredible stuff as well. I will be getting this one. It's going to be about $112 or so from Firehouse 12

the 10-disc (9 CDs, one DVD) box of Braxton 12-tet at the Iridium is up for pre-order at amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Compositions-Iridium...TF8&s=music It will also be available, cheaper, from the label's website, http://www.firehouse12.com. This is all Ghost Trance Music, I assume.

That's cold! I've only experienced it while snowboarding. Third time for me in about a month. It appears though that snow/moisture doesn't hurt it, as it got covered with snow when I took it out of my pocket to see what happened. Works fine now.
-
what's your studio work?
-
not much in Ann Arbor so far, maybe half an inch, but its windy and gettin' chilly. My walk home from work was an adventure, as the cold shut down my iPod about a third of the way and a lot of snow had blown over the sidewalks, which slowed me down.

Chunks? If that's chunky to you then what type of girls do you like? Dude, Natalie Maines has been chuggin' some Ben & Jerrys for quite some time. Take away the high fashion black drape and you'd see.... It's all good and fine, to me though...they are just the most annoying group that ever existed. Record and song of the year....holy cow that record is crap...who bought that thing? And now they'll just be more and more pretentious....uggg... The middle one is fat and the two on the end are just plain UGLY.....and I have no idea what their "music" sounds like.

I have a few Classic Records releases and I think they are great. Heavy vinyl (not sure how that affects the sound, but it sure feels like it's important), great packaging on thick cardboard with those rice paper sleeves for the records, and at least on the ones I have, excellent sound. They are expensive, which is why I only have a few, but I do like what I have seen and heard so far from them.
