  1. Very brief discussion of this here: http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php...pic=13350&st=15
  2. Vroom and Vroom Vroom sounded better when they were titled "Red". Guy They are related pieces of a theme, like the Lark's Tongues series
  3. I wasn't aware that there was overexposure of her. When you don't pay attention to regular TV or mainstream movies, then you aren't exposed to the overexposure!
  4. What??
  5. Hmm, I just downloaded 9-29-94 form DGMLive and I'll just have to respectfully disagree. Thanks for the tip Greg. No problem! Don't forget to check out the still ongoing KCCC, which has just released Live at the Wiltern, 1995. Fripp and Belew had thought it was a very special show so they planned to release back in 1996, but instead put out B'Boom and Thrakattak. I also disagree about the instrumentals-I prefere the mid 90s instrumentals to the proper songs. I wish there were more! I can listen to Vroom and Vroom Vroom over and over and still hear new things. And Thrak is about as hard sounding, pummeling as Crimson got, rivalling Lark's Tongues Part 4, Level 5 and Red

    Miles Davis question

The word you're looking for is "renowned". I would suggest "overrated"

    Miles Davis question

Yeah it is a good contrast. Nirvana is the greatest rock band in history. Pear Jam sucks.
  8. yep. me too
  9. sorry I missed another one at Baker's. sounds like a good show
  10. Looks bad for me, too-both kids are sick and it wouldn't be fair to leave my already exhausted wife home alone with them. Hopefully I'll be able to make the next show @ the Firefly!
  11. I'd love to make this one. No commitment from me yet, though-have to see what's happening with the family first
  12. well, I got my copy of Imaginary Diseases today, and it is much better than what I was expecting (which wasn't much). An actual live disc compiled from a number of different concerts in 1972, with good sound (better than expected, again). It is playing as I type this, and there is a very nice bluesy vamp with lots of very good soloing by FZ, brass, and Tony Duran. And that's only the third song! I'm looking forward to the 16 min Farther O'Blivion! Oh, and even though the liner notes have the typical Gail mumbo-jumbo, there is a sensical, brief essay from Steve Vai. So, shockingly, it looks like the ZFT came through, finally! I was so disappointed by the Joe's Domage thing

    Double CD cases

Thanks, people. Jim was right, I got a case of 10 @ Staples, which is 5 min down the road from me, and 10 is all I need
  14. Am I just looking in the wrong places? I want to buy empty CD cases that hold 2 discs for some CD-Rs that I have made. All I can find are the standard single disc cases or the slimline doubles, which would be fine except they don't have any place to put the artwork/booklet. Does anyone know where I can find them?
  15. Pick up In the Court of the Crimson King, Larks' Tongues in Aspic (or Red), and Discipline. Those should give you a nice introduction into the group's 3 most important periods. Guy well, they have done quite a bit since 1980, so i would add Thrak and The Power to Believe to this list to get a better representation. But while they are heavy, they don't really break any new ground. I think Larks' Tongues in Aspic (or Red or Starless and Bible Black) and Discipline would be a great introduction to this band. The Power to Believe sounds like nothing they have done previously (if you don't count the ProjeKcts), other than maybe Dangerous Curves (I think it's renamed as one of the title tracks) sounding like an update of Mars. I'd say the two guitars sound completely different in their latest work than they did in the 80s, too
  16. Cap d'Agde is a great one from the 80s, but the sound isnt the best. The one from Philly is good too, and it has versions of the Howler, Discipline and the Sheltering Sky. The ProjeKct One KCCC is one of my favorites-it is made of 3 suites compiled from over the 4 nights of performances, with a lot of nice Soundscaping from Fripp. I have enjoyed the ProjeKct Three disc a lot too-a little heavier than the disc included with the ProjeKcts box set
  17. Pick up In the Court of the Crimson King, Larks' Tongues in Aspic (or Red), and Discipline. Those should give you a nice introduction into the group's 3 most important periods. 18. Mainz is probably the better show, but Heidelberg is close to it, the only problem being the shortened Fracture (the tape ran out 3 min in). You really need them both! Actually, when it comes to that era of Crimson, you really do need to hear it all!! But the improvs on Heidleberg may be better than those on Mainz. Tough call, really I was referring to the Zoom shows from 1971 (the band that did Islands). I haven't heard all of this band's shows to be able to compare, but the Summit Studios KCCC has the most interesting jams, while these Zoom shows have more of a song based set list (they do Get Thy Bearings, Crimson King and others that they later dropped)
  19. yes, that show is one of the very best that I have heard. It seems very clear to me that they were saving this one and a few of the others (like the Buenos Aires 1994 show or the Zoom club show from 1972) to launch this web site with the best of the best, or else these would have been released as KCCC discs a long time ago.
  20. Picked up a copy via yourmusic.com. I think my initial assessment was right. The tempos are generally slow and as a result the album drags a bit. I wish they'd dug a little harder into the boogaloo groove on "Twins". Guy Is it just my set-up, or are the drums mixed very low on this?? I can barely hear the drums!
  21. there is a new download available at DGM live. Its the final show from the Power to Believe Tour, Nov 14 2003 in Kingston, NY. Double disc, and it's HEAVY!!
  22. alright, alright, yes they're funny, but enough!!
  23. man, thats the only thing people can comment on when it comes to Jarrett, huh?
  24. well, its a long drive, but one of the Ann Arbor stores has 3
