  1. It tells me we all have diffferent tastes, likes, dislikes, and things we have not yet discovered. Nothing wrong with that! We have certain likes and dislikes and priorities when it comes to purchasing music that are reflective of who we are as people and how we view the world. Nothing at all wrong with that. It's just insightful is all...sometime predictably so. And how do you think I view the world, johnny? Just what are you trying to turn this thread into?
  2. I find this thread to be very telling. what does this mean?? Did you want to buy me some?
  3. Uh, didn't she do just that? She was on the air when it happened.....
  4. The American way is very sensible. Not our fault other places do it the wrong way
  5. The Cellar Door box is almost worth it just for Jarrett's liner notes
  6. too many closeups of him in that clip- I don't need to see that again! Nice rendition of the song though
  7. bluegrass takes of old folk songs is a fad??
  8. I am the biggest baseball fan there is but i think the season starts way too early. at least 2 more weeks would be good, maybe even not until may. it is just too cold and still dark in some places when the games start @ 7, 8 pm this time of year
  9. well, that makes it the earliest Christmas shopping I have ever done then! I bought mine in August (pre-order)

I like the 3-disc solo set. I also like the two recent Pi CDs, even if they don't compare with their past achievements. It's all still interesting music

I wouldn't give up a chance to see Roscoe Mitchell live. Especially when he is on stage with Moye and Jarman!
  12. well, it's in BMG now, so probably yourmusic by tomorrow
  13. No Mosaic either. And no Warne Marsh
  14. I don't have any Marsh-maybe this will have to be my first!
  15. it's almost unnoticeable now. If I'm going to use it (and I will for the next disc I buy), I'm going to have move it back to where it was, or else I'll forget about it.
  16. You can't lord it over the rest of us like that, GK, strutting around the thread with your fancy-pants "very little" this and that. Surely there is some jazz giant by whom you have nothing?? CONFESS!! hmmmm.......absolutely nothing by Dizzy Gillespie and nothing by any of the vocalists. Also, I had an Art Tatum disc once but sold with a big bundle of discs that went in a trade-does that count?
  17. very little parker and mingus
  18. I never understood why they left out the first two and Live in Tokyo (I also got mine at Tower, and it's good) when they upgraded the catlog. I rapidly lost interest after these three

I still can't get through the first two discs, but I agree with you, disc 3 is excellent, and disc 4 has some interesting moments too
  20. same here. Never had a problem and have even gotten to keep a few CDs that were sent by mistake (which I then re-sold as never opened, brand new discs, making a profit!)
  21. Tribute to Lester is one of the best records to come out in many years!!

    Neil Young

I don't agree at all. I think the trio sounds great, with all the space filled up by lingering notes and feedback. I wish he would do more of this (of course I think Pancho is great, but a change every once in a while is great too)
  23. did he do Higher Love?

    Free America

Yep. I agree about the Art Ensemble Phase One. I also really like the Braxton Donna Lee. I may go pick up the Frank Wright, too
  25. Captain Beefheart anthology, The Dust Blows Forward. My first Beefheart (longtime Zappa fan, however. I have no explanation for why it took me so long to dig into some Beefheart)!
