  1. The Shuttle is pretty "cool" and all, some nifty science to get it up there and back, but I cringe whenever they discuss the "experiments" being sent up with it. There's never any real, interesting or useful science ever sent up to be studied, it's mostly frivolous or pointless stuff that isn't very necessary. The real science is in the moving the thing, parking it, then driving it back home
  2. I ordered Braxton Charlie Parker Project
  3. any recommendations for those of us unfamiliar with a lot of those titles?
  4. Any preference, Boston or Chicago?
  5. where is it? i've never seen it here outside of Borders
  6. don't forget to lock it up in a vault or else it may end up like mine. i walked out of the apt last friday morning, and as i walked past the bike rack where mine was locked up, i noticed that some asshole relieved it of its tires, leaving just the frame locked to the rack! what kind of scum does that i don't know, but they also took someone else's frame (they had the bike locked to the rack through the tire, so the tire was left)
  7. if only PigPen weren't on it
  8. Sorry, guess I won't be able to comment- there was a mix-up with my order. It wasn't received for some reason, and now they are sold-out. So I'll have to get them somewhere else, some other time
  9. I'm curious too. I just ordered one from Verge from their clearance sale but I don't have any idea what to expect
  10. Damn, the first time in weeks that I don't watch the news, and I could have seen Chuck's house!
  11. they do have the Mingus box on Atlantic, which BMG doesn't have
  12. gotta save something for the eventual "Complete" box set!!
  13. Not overrated at all. I never get tired of it. Perfect length suite for Coltrane's statement.
  14. so far I've bought Round About Midnight twice (3 times if you count the box). I've yet to get the SACD
  15. so why doesn't he? i saw his quartet in Nov 2002 and they were great. all acoustic, which made some of the fusion stuff sound far more interesting than the electric versions (at least to me). he even introduced a Bill Evans tune (I forget the title) as something this quartet would be doing on a soon-to-be-released Bill Evans tribute album. It's been 2.5 years, and still nothing
  16. uhhh, have you actually heard it?? It's nothing compared to America's!!
  17. Halifax?? jazz?? Halifax is the land of celtic music; hard to imagine a jazz festival happening there!
  18. a guy I work with has a 4-disc set. Sound is pretty awful-sounds like it was recorded from outside the basement through the wall!!
  19. As a professional scientist, I have seen and worked with some pretty dumb "scientists". everyone is an expert
  20. Still in yourmusic.com for $5.99 per disc X 7 discs
  21. I still want to know the source of these statements. When did Jack tell you that? Would Jack do anything for the money? When did Gary become deaf? He still plays remarkably well for someone who can't hear what's being played around him!
  22. Does Hatology count?
  23. Make a Jazz Noise Here is probably the best of the latter day material. Very little silliness and some serious playing by his excellent band (not as many solos by Frank as I'd like, but he wanted to showcase the band)
  24. nice pick!
