  1. Paul - I could just see it now...this young cashier thinking, "f***king busy body!!!" Classic, buddy!!
  2. I don't like to admit this fact about many people, but you guys are jazz geniuses. Man, reap the knowledge everyone. B)
  3. Alright, I'm callin' out the jazzheads on this board to pull this badboy off the shelf and clear away the dust. What's it like? Is it one that people reach for often? I'm very intrigued by this record.
  4. Ahhh...at least this kind of justifies my purchase of the Wilkerson TOCJs...(I think...okay, maybe not!)
  5. I had to send the CD back at my expense. I guess it's no fault of theirs, but it's still annoying as hell.
  6. Blue Note has refused to become involved...they referred me to the retailer. Kind of a cop out, but it figures!
  7. Selling "Soul Stirrin'" is a tough pill to swallow (unless you're getting the Select...). I wish you all the best with coping!!!
  8. I emailed them both, but only Cheap-cds has responded thus far. Really though this is Blue Note's fault and should be dealt with by them. I'm sure the retailer receives credit for the error.
  9. I can't even do that!! That sucker is packed up and on it's way back to the company.
  10. Cheap-Cds has instructed me to mail it back to them and they'll send a replacement.
  11. Hey Folks, I bought a copy of Tina Brooks "The Waiting Game" last week from Cheap CDs, and received it today. Upon tearing off the shrink wrap I was dissapointed to find a totally different CD in the case. The name of it is "The Best of Hooker 'N' Heat". I emailed Blue Note, and Cheap-Cds to see what can be done. I'll keep you guys posted just to make sure that customer service is on the up and up.
  12. This is precisely the reason why I now avoid large Mosaics. I found that I wasn't listening to half the material. Thus, it was pretty much a waste to have music that was essentially catching dust on my shelf.
  13. Hey Folks, I posted some CDs on Ebay. Check 'em out. Ebay
  14. Here's my proposal: Since I'm one of the youngest regular posters on this board I think that every single one of you should donate, at least, 25% of your collection to me upon dying. After all, when all of you people have kicked the can I'll still be holding it down at organissimo.org. Hell, by that time, I may even be the moderator here. So come on now...be a pal! Pass your knowledge on to the younger generation! This means you (insert name)!!!!!!! P.S. My girlfriend doesn't particularly like jazz either, and hates my spending. MEH...
  15. I just saw it at my local used store tonight. $10
  16. Yeah, when you bought them from Matt! Boy, I can be foolish! I felt like my collection was becoming polarized with too much of the same artists, and I wanted to change that. Hence, the new additions of Horace Parlan, Horace Silver, Tina Brooks & Stan T.
  17. Lon - I get the impression you won't be voting Republican in the upcoming election.
  18. My first Mosaic purchase was the Tina Brooks.
  19. I've found the TOCJ/JRVG to be better sounding, but that's just me. On that note, one Mosaic I do wish I still had was the Tina Brooks. I guess it was a sentimental thing seeing as I purchased it for $50 Canadian at a USED store, but when I heard the music for the first time it was a revelation. Thank goodness everything has been reissued. I just splurged on "Back to the Tracks" & "Waiting Game" today.
  20. I own one Mosaic: Larry Young. Otherwise, I'd rather go the TOCJ/JRVG route and buy only the worthwhile sessions. I found in the past when I had a few Mosaics that I never got through all the music. Thus, why spend all that $$ on music I wasn't listening too?
  21. Great album, and the TOCJ is one you don't see often. I've never owned this version, but have had the domestic and, now, the JRVG. How's the sound on this one? BTW, Bob's a great guy! Buy with confidence.
  22. I'm thinking some Max Roach fits right in with desegregation.
  23. I still have to thank Conn500 for getting me started with Duke Pearson. "Sweet Honey Bee" is just terrific, as is "Wahoo".
