I'll second both recommendations. Let's not forget his fine contributions to Gigi Gryce's early 60's releases. All worth owning, IMO.

It's always been amazing to me this set didn't sell out long ago. For any of you fence sitters, take the plunge. You wont regret it. A solid set from beginning to end.

I realize I'm not privy to what happened in the past and under most circumstances would keep my mouth shut. But can't folks just leave things in the past and move on or is that just asking too much? Gosh, it just seems there is a lot of wasted energy being spent here rehashing past grievances. If you want to be part of the forum, glad to have you on board. I look forward to reading your thoughts. If you can't find anything positive to say, why waste another moment and move on? I realize I may get slammed for this, but some of this shit seems to be childish and frankly it's getting BORING!

My wife recently purchased me a new laptop which contains Windows 8. In the beginning it made me feel like I was an idiot. That I was starting over again. After initial cursing and swearing I've gotten used to it. Not a ringing endorsement by any means. I'm glad I still have the desktop with the older operating system.

Damn! Sorry I missed that. With thunderstorms moving in and out of the area all afternoon, it wasn't till now I was able to log back on. I'm sure it was a great show.

I'm really glad to have seen Mulgrew perform a few months ago. He performed in a trio with students from William Patterson University. It was a fun night. I had the opportunity to briefly chat with Mulgrew after the show at a meet and greet across the street from the venue. I got him to sign my cd as well. It makes me sad that he was taken far too early. Well at least we have his music and there's a lot of it out there. Thanks Mulgrew!

I saw Mulgrew perform a few months ago and he sounded great. I didn't know he had a prior stroke. Dick Conte on KCSM just mentioned Mulgrew's stroke, which brought me here. This makes me very sad. Here's hoping he bounces back. We're all rooting for you, Mulgrew!

Someone mentioned to me recently about a big upcoming Uptown release, but declined to offer up any info. I guess the cat is out of the bag now! Let me add since July 16 is my birthday, this would make a great birthday present!

Did he have any idea what happened? Was the CD damaged? The cd appears fine. Maybe a couple scratches. I played the disc in it's entirety a short while ago and plays perfectly. As for the cause, he wasn't certain. Hopefully, it wont happen again.

An update. I brought the cd player to a local electronics store today and a very nice gentleman took the time to open it on the spot with his power screwdriver. It only took a few minutes and the cd was found loose inside the player. Weird stuff. No charge for his efforts. I think he enjoyed chatting with someone who still had an appreciation for home audio equipment. We reminicised about long gone audio stores. That was pretty cool.

Ok guys. This might sound nuts, but I think a disc I was playing as recently as Sunday has been swallowed by my cd player. I was listening to a recording on Sunday and pretty certain I left it in the player having not finished hearing it. I wanted to play the disc again tonight and turned the player on and received a message stating "no disc". I opened the tray and it was empty. I've looked all over the room and can't seem to find it. Has anyone had a problem where a cd player has swallowed a disc? What can I do to possibly remove it? It sounds like I might have to bring the darn thing to a repair shop to have it removed? In the meantime any helpful advice would be appreciated. Edit: I just picked up the player and tilted it on it's side and it's in there! Shit!

I just came across this release on Marc Myers Jazzwax website featuring a who's who of jazz musicians in disguise on the album cover. Who are the musicians featured on this date and what are your thoughts on this release? Good and bad.

I don't live out of the country - New Mexico is still a state last time I checked. Our service is terrible. Mail delivered at night, mail in wrong box, etc., etc. Maybe it's a local problem. As in a problem to all localities? Maybe, because I experience the same problems. Fewer employees may be the cause. The internet really affected the USPS. Now, one can even send greeting cards directly to email inboxes for free. Staffing is definitely as issue, at least in our office. Most times we don't have enough people to deliver the mail. That's when people like myself who have placed themselves on the overtime desired list, find in addition to delivering there own route they must also deliver a piece of another route. Of course since you're not the regular carrier and sometimes not familar with the territory, screwups can occur. It happens, but I really do the best I can to get the people the right mail. A great example is tomorrow/Friday. I heard before I walked out the door that there would be 2 1/2 open routes. It's going to be a very long day! One other thing to add, since we are so understaffed I find myself in most cases working 6 days a week. That would include my day off at time and a half pay.

I've dealt with the same issues recently and never had problems with importcds in the past. I have no idea if that's a postal issue or something going on with importcds?
