  1. Stupid, HELL YEAH! I work for the Postal Service as a letter carrier and don't understand why Congress doesn't admit they f***ed things up and correct it. It's said the losses we are presently incurring would be dramatically reduced by changing this one thing. As for the the dramatic overseas rate increases, I've dealt with that first hand when I sent out a shipment recently. I don't know, maybe we are destined for failure. At this point, I'm just hoping to make it to retirement.
  2. Happy Birthday, Jeff! Hope to talk on Skype soon.
  3. Based on the glowing recommendations, I just purchased Volume 1. I'm certain others to follow. Thanks fellas!
  4. Your posts Matthew the other day, made me curious about these recordings. Thanks for responding!
  5. Don't own them. Any thoughts about these releases?
  6. I just came across this article over at AAJ. I thought folks here might be interested? I'll provide the link: http://www.allaboutjazz.com/php/article.php?id=44267
  7. One of the local radio stations has been playing his music lately and I just picked up his 2011 release"No Time For Dreaming". April 2 will find the release of the followup called "Victim Of Love". Both releases are on the Daptone label. Folks here familiar with Sharon Jones should enjoy this as well. Any other fans of Charles out there? Speak up! A clip from his previous release to give you an idea what this guy does best:
  8. Have all three in my collection- great stuff! And can that rhythm section cook! All 3 are worth owning although the most recent, Tenor Time may be the weakest of the bunch. Just my thoughts.
  9. After hearing Mark perform on the track " With Malice Towards None" off the album "The Neal Smith Quintet Live At Smalls", I have to get some of this guy's music.
  10. Any comments on this date? Curious.

  15. Happy Birthday, Big Al.
  16. Glad to come across so many positive responses on his latest release. Sounds like a no brainer.
  17. An October audio review from NPR. http://www.npr.org/player/v2/mediaPlayer.html?action=1&t=1&islist=false&id=163712216&m=163712366
  18. I've heard a few tracks off this album while listening to WBGO recently. Sounds pretty good. Anyone here own this and willing to offer up a few thoughts?
  19. Dogs; Yorkshire Terrier ( Riley) Soft Coated Wheaton Terrier ( Freddie) Golden Retriever (Charlie)
  20. Man, this is real good stuff! Just sayin'.
  21. Well if you had to pin me down I have a preference for dogs but love them both. As Bill F can attest, it a regular menagerie here. We talk on Skype regularly and he usually sees at least a dog or two during our conversations. I think he likes Charlie our 9 month old Golden Retreiver? Besides Charlie, I own 2 other dogs and 3 cats. We don't have kids. This is our family.
  22. Happy Birthday, Hans!
  23. Happy Birthday, John!
  24. Often overlooked in my collection even though I must own half a dozen of his Blue Note dates. When I think of the era when he recorded with Blue Note, I immediately think Freddie and Lee. Having been listening to his music the past few days has made me realise what an underated player he was. Thanks Donald for the great music!
  25. Happy Birthday, Michael.
