  1. Thanks for the commentary guys. I'm glad there are a few of us who get great enjoyment from hearing this album. I envy those who were fortunate enough to have seen the tour back in '77. From what I've heard, Floyd shows were to be seen. Funny to read in the wikipedia story about the flying pig breaking loose and flying into Heathrow airspace. Now that's funny!
  2. Hope you a great birthday, Paul!
  3. After listening to the recent remastered version of "Dark Side Of The Moon", which includes previously unreleased live tracks from Wembley in 1974 I headed up to the attic yesterday to dig out an old copy of "Animals" on vinyl. While I enjoy Floyd's other releases such as "Dark Side Of The Moon", Wish You Were Here" and "The Wall", rock radio has pretty much played these albums to death. "Animals" doesn't receive close to the airplay there other releases do. So this has always been one of my favorite recordings by them. I realise I may be in the minority here in stating that. If you happen to be a fan of this album and even if you're not, I would enjoy reading your impressions. For me, hearing this album was like revisiting an old friend. Hoping we get a few responses here.
  4. This week a non jazz track, from Pink Floyd's "Animals" the track "Pigs(Three Different Ones)". Listening to this album was like revisiting a long last friend. I kind of forgot just how much I enjoyed this album. Very underrated, IMO. It's a shame classic rock radio, doesn't play this more often.
  5. I've been looking for an excuse to purchase a Furtwangler collection since at present I don't own any recordings by this legendary conductor. For the price and the amount of music you get, it sounds like you can't go wrong here?
  6. This Friday March 9 beginning @ midnight New York time. 24 hours of Ornette Coleman. WKCR, New York
  7. As a kid I remember getting the 45 "Last Train To Clarksville" as a Christmas present.
  8. Gosh, I feel old right now. Sorry to hear of his passing.
  9. Excellent guys. I'm kind of the same mind with Pelt and Allen on the frontline, you can't go wrong. I'll also add, Gerald Cleaver behind the drumkit is no slouch either.
  10. Any comments on Jeremy's latest? Same working unit which is defintely a good thing.
  11. Happy Birthday, Alan!
  12. Happy Birthday, Hans!
  13. Happy Birthday, John.
  14. Yesterday, I finally received an email notifying me of shipment of my order placed two weeks or so ago. I just received an email confirmation yesterday for 1 shipment. The other order which was supposed to be shipped first class since it was a single item also ordered Feb. 1, no confirmation as of yet. I guess I'll wait things out.
  15. Not to be impatient, but how long would one normally wait for a shipment to arrive from Jazz Loft? It's been almost 2 weeks.
  16. Happy Birthday, Michael.
  17. I agree. In 1988 I cycled from Manchester to Blackpool (about 65 miles). I was 19, I had trained for several weeks beforehand, but it was a real eye-opener. For a few miles I found myself at the head of a big pack, feeling good about myself. All of a sudden, the Raleigh Banana Team silently ghosted past me as if I were standing still. I remember getting on my bike again about 2 weeks later and my legs were like jelly. I don't think I've cycled more than a mile ever since - certainly not at all for over 15 years. I don't give a shit what others do. I ride because I enjoy it. I've never road trying to compete with others. That would just ruin the experience for me.
  18. Glad to hear you had a great time, Bill!
  19. I usually get candies and cookies from customers along my mail route. If I don't eat them right away, the wife will take them to work so there not still sitting around 6 months later.
  20. Today discs 3 and 4. Really enjoying the Village Vanguard recordings.
  21. i was going to post the same mosaic. i like it very much with that kind of medium band and mulligan and his bari, which i love. Well, this is the first spin for me after receiving this in the mail from a fellow board member. I'm enjoying what I'm hearing and quite happy to have made the purchase. The personnel on these dates, top notch.
