  1. Another vote for the above title. Also enjoy this one.
  2. I had some downtime today(off from work) and purchased a couple used copies on the cheap. The titles being "Siren" and "Sleepness Nights".
  3. I've been checking out some of his releases recently and really enjoying what I'm hearing. I've come across some positive comments on Weiskopf in separate threads but no single thread dedicated to him. So let's hear from you. What do you guys think of Walt Weiskopf?
  4. No disrespect for Jackie's Prestige sides which I think I must own close to if not all. Far and away his Blue Note titles do it for me. Consequence, Jackknife, Vertigo, Destination Out, It's Time, Right Now! Gosh, it don't get much better than that.
  5. Happy Birthday, Bill!
  6. Happy Birthday, John!
  7. Happy Birthday, TD.
  8. Disc 1 of Sonny Stitt Mosaic.
  9. Thanks for the headsup. A great way to spend a day off from work.
  10. I wouldn't part with many Criss Cross titles but if I had to, I wouldn't hesitate a second to re-purchase Tad Schull's Deep Passion. Truly a desert island disc for me. I'll have to look for that one Dan. You've never steered me wrong before. *Jazzcrow, check your PM's. I have sent you a response. Thanks guys for all the help! Much appreciated.
  11. I'm not certain what type of reponses I'll receive here without being too specific? I've only recently become a fan of this label and really enjoy some of the recordings I've heard online. Walt Weiskopf, Ralph Lalama and Bill Charlap are just a few names I really enjoy. The Richard Wyands recordings also sound fine. I guess what I'm asking is this. Since these titles don't come too cheaply, would anyone be interested in unloading some of there titles they may have little interest in hearing? Just PM me and perhaps we can negotiate something. Perhaps this isn't the best way to do things, but if it helps save a few bucks it might be worth it.
  12. I've come across many positive responses to the Onzy set. Don't own it yet. Oh boy. What to do?
  13. The Newbury Comics in Boston has long been a beacon of sanity in a world gone mad. I shopped both the Natick and the Harvard Square locations a few years back. My preference was the Natick store. I dropped a bundle there.
  14. Liner notes are great! Anyone else enjoying this one?
  15. For me, far and away Newbury Comics is the best store. I was at the Portland, Maine store this past Sunday and while the jazz selection was on the smallish size, quality and price were excellent. Alot of K2 discs were anywhere from 3.99 - 7.99. I purchased a number of OJC titles for only 3.99. Having done some comparison shopping online, I came away with a few steals. For example I purchased Joe Newman's "Jive At Five" recently selling on Amazon Marketplace for $25. I purchased it for 3.99.
  16. NFL On NBC Anyone else remember this? From the early 70's. I remember this being such a killer intro to there sports programming back in the day. Dig the sax solo!
  17. Tom, that one's very enjoyable, isn't it? I got it early last year, and I still listen to it fairly regularly. I've been listening to bits and pieces the past few days. With the exception of the Stevie Wonder cover which I could have done without, pretty good stuff. John Hart provides some pretty tasty licks. I've read some positive thoughts on this album here on the forum, so this may require some repeated listens.
  18. Any thoughts on this alto player? Currently listening to the album "Human Spirit" and liking that alot.
  19. Ok, I admit I'm obsessed with Spotify and the Criss-Cross label of late. Now listening to:
  20. I saw Bowers perform this past Thursday night in a quintet with Terell Stafford and Dick Oatts. I didn't realise he was the winner of the recent competition until a collegue gave me the headsup. I thought he played well.
