Another person looking forward to hearing both Louis Smith sessions. So far my only exposure to Smith has been by the way of the Kenny Burrell release Blue Lights. That was reason enough to want to hear more. Also curious as to peoples thoughts on the Freddie Redd disc? I see Jackie McLean and Tina Brooks are on that session.

Considering how much money I've saved by people posting about specially priced items, plunking down a few bucks to support this forum is a non issue. Thanks Jim for all you've done in the past. The check is in the mail tomorrow.

I've been taking advantage recently of there 8.99 sale and free shipment for orders over $50. An additional 10% off might spur me into making one more round of purchases before the holidays. Got to get more of Sonny Criss!

Any thoughts on this DVD? It's been out there awhile and I've been meaning to purchase this.

Presently listening to Disc 1 of the Complete Capitol Fifties Jack Teagarden Sessions. -
Thanks to all who spoke highly of "Sonny's Dream" (Birth Of The New Cool). I just finished listening to this recording for the very first time and was totally knocked out. The man is incredible on this release. I'm probably going to play this a few times over the coming days. One of the best releases I've purchased this year. I already own "This Is Criss" and look forward to seriously digging into the mans catalogue. Underated? Absolutely.

Hey Chicagoans and other global listeners. What are your thoughts about this radio station? I see there is some jazz programming featured especially on the weekends. Seems like a pretty decent station. Once again streaming over the net, happy to say.

Which Jazz box set are you grooving to right now?
Tom 1960 replied to Cliff Englewood's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
I'm presently listening to Disc 3 of the Joe Henderson Milestone Years box set. Disc 3 contains the live performances from the Lighthouse Cafe in 1970. On the track "A Shade Of Jade" Woody Shaw just kicks ass! Nice version of "Round Midnight" also. -
Joe Henderson 8CD Milestone Set For $28.99

No black mark on mine also. Right now I'm listening to disc 2 of this set. This disc starts out alittle out there. Especially the Lee Konitz number. I do really enjoy the Nat Adderley selections. Joe Zawinul really cooks here. Jeremy Steig playing on the track "The Scavenger" is pretty interesting. Pretty advanced stuff for a Nat Adderley session. The "Power To The People" recordings with Herbie on electric piano I dig. Hey, if you enjoy late 60's Miles there really isn't much of an issue here. Mike Lawrence on trumpet is a name on not familar with. I really enjoy his contributions as well. Very interesting stuff. -

It's been awhile since I last listened to this. I really enjoy the mainly trio sessions on the first couple discs. The music is squarely focused on Horace's playing. Very enjoyable. -

Hey Aggie! Glad to hear you finally received your shipment. Post your thoughts when you get the opportunity. Mine is on the way. -
No big surprise Dan, but I chose blues. Although compared to jazz these days it's a pretty distant second. After pretty much taking a hiatus from jazz for a period of time, it's about all I listen to these days. I think in the past year and a half I've about doubled my jazz collection. I enjoy classical music also, but I feel I have to be in the right mood to devote my attention to it. So many hours in the day.

Even though cash is pretty tight, I feel I can't pass up on this offer. I'll know I'll be kicking myself in the rear months from now if I let this slide. -
Maine is a place my wife and I have vacationed often in the past. We both enjoy visiting and it could become a reality in the next 10 years or so when I decide to retire. I have to admit though I'm not much of a winter person. Most reasonable people want to move to warmer climates when they get older. The climate along Maine's southern coast is pretty comparable to here in the Hudson Valley. Further inland, well that's another story entirely.

Filling in the gaps in my Silver colection, this is on tap for November.

No sense duplicating what I already own. Thanks for the input, Hans. Comments on 'A Sure Thing'?
