  1. Interesting posts here. I'll give it some thought for the time being whether to make a purchase or not. I've been buying alot of music as of late and it wouldn't kill me to hold off for now. I'm still playing catch up with my latest batch of cds from the Concord Records sale. The rational side of my brain talking here.
  2. Can some of you good folks offer up a thought or two on this release? Right now, I can scoop this up for a pretty dirt cheap price. Keeping in mind I already own all of Booker's "Book" sessions and a few others as well.
  3. If all the Blue Note releases disappear, there'll be no reason for me to continue with my membership. Hopefully that wont be the case.
  4. In the next few days I should be receiving the Walter Davis, Jr. release "Davis Cup". Next month on my queue is Art Taylor's "A.T.'s Delight". At least for now.
  5. Me too. Woohoo! Me three! I should have them in my hands as soon as Friday.
  6. The name of that album is "Another Story". Hopefully I'll get around to listening to that recording tomorrow. Meanwhile, it's onto disc 4. This disc features material from the albums "In Memory Of" and "Mr. Natural".
  7. Jeff, my apologies for not expressing my concerns in my initial post. It clearly wasn't intentional. I hope that your health improves over the course of time. Nothing but the best of wishes extended to you. I hope you make out well selling your collection. I'd also like encourage you to stay on with us. This is a great outlet for jazz lovers. I'm sure there is alot you can add to these discussions.
  8. PM sent on the Kenton set.
  9. I'm interested in the Kenton Presents set. If it's anything like the Rumsey Lighthouse All-Stars sessions, I'm sure I wont be disappointed. I also read the thread here praising this set. Stan Kenton Presents
  10. Please post your list!
  11. Disc 3 of the Stanley Turrentine Mosaic. This disc features some amazing playing by Shirley Scott. Up to now I didn't own anything where she's featured on. I guess that has to change in 2008! I'm really enjoying this set.
  12. Disc 2 of the Stanley Turrentine Mosaic. I have to say I'm especially enjoying this disc because of Sonny Clark who sounds great, brother Tommy and Kenny Burrell who adds some real color to the festivities. I'm really diggin' this!
  13. The Blue Note Stanley Turrentine Quintet/Sextet Studio Sessions - Disc 1
  14. I convinced (Santa) my wife to buy me the Stanley Turrentine Mosaic box set. I'm really looking forward to playing this one when I get some downtime. I told her also that Mosaic's make great birthday and anniversary presents as well.
  15. I just placed another order for ten discs and was shocked to find so many titles I had on my wish list not available. Here's how things panned out: Jimmy Heath - Triple Threat Richie Kamuca - West Coast Jazz Cannonball Adderley Quintet - Plus Gigi Gryce - The Rat Race Blues Lem Winchester - Another Opus Harold Land -Harold In The Land Of Jazz Oliver Nelson - Meet Oliver Nelson Phineas Newborn -The Great Jazz Piano Of Phineas Newborn, Jr. Teddy Edwards and Howard McGhee -Together Again! Junior Mance - Junior's Blues
  16. Thanks for the headsup on those quickly evaporating titles. I was able to purchase The Quota recently. I'll put together an order later today and hope for the best.
  17. Bruce, I'll have the Land album "Harold In The Land Of Jazz" as part of another Concord shipment planned soon. Great to hear you think highly of this release. Also great to read the many positive thoughts here on the Counce sessions. Looks like I'm in good company. Shame that another fine musician died way too young. Same can be said for Carl Perkins.
  18. Who cares what the record sounds like with that great cover art! You mean this groovy cover?

    Curtis Counce

I've managed to purchase a couple of his releases recently. You Get More Bounce and Landslide. Terrific stuff. I'm probably going to purchase Carl's Blues as well. Any other fans here who just LOVE this stuff?
  20. The sale continues to January 31? Yikes!!! I haven't gone through my most recent order and here I'm thinking of placing at least 2 more orders. Somebody stop me!
  21. Another person looking forward to hearing both Louis Smith sessions. So far my only exposure to Smith has been by the way of the Kenny Burrell release Blue Lights. That was reason enough to want to hear more. Also curious as to peoples thoughts on the Freddie Redd disc? I see Jackie McLean and Tina Brooks are on that session.
  22. Considering how much money I've saved by people posting about specially priced items, plunking down a few bucks to support this forum is a non issue. Thanks Jim for all you've done in the past. The check is in the mail tomorrow.
  23. I pulled the trigger on these releases a short time ago: Howard Rumsey's Lighthouse All-Stars - In The Solo Spotlight Booker Ervin/Dexter Gordon - Setting The Pace Mal Waldron - Mal-1 Lem Winchester - Winchester Special Shelly Manne - Vol. 1: The West Coast Sound Jimmy Heath - The Quota Sonny Criss - Up, Up And Away Sonny Criss - A Portrait Of Sonny Criss Curtis Counce - Landslide Nat Adderley And The Big Sax Section - That's Right!
  24. I purchased this a few months back based on the many fine recommendation here. A real good one!
