  1. I don't know who's the bigger ass here, the judge who filed the lawsuit or the judge who allowed this farce to go to trial?
  2. I took advantage of the recent sale and ordered 4 discs. They ended up shipping only 2 of the 4. The titles out of stock could hardly be described as obscure, Blue Mitchell's "The Thing To Do" and the Clifford Jordan/John Gilmore album "Blowing In From Chicago". Orders never filled.
  3. Funny, I received an email in the past few days stating the release might not be available based on it's position in my queue. I moved it up to August and now it's history.
  4. I finally got around to listening to the Oliver Nelson program in it's entirety. Loved it! Thank goodness for the archives. While I don't presently have the cash to purchase the Mosaic set, the show convinced me enough it would be a wise purchase down the road.
  5. I wanted to revive this thread only to express my enjoyment for his Village Vanguard trio recording from 1961. I just purchased this recently and I'm thoroughly enjoying it. This is the only recording I have Junior featured as a leader. I know I have him as a sideman somewhere in my collection. The album title escapes me right now. I will keep in mind the recommendations made in this thread. I've gotta get more of this guy.
  6. I don't know but I've noticed at the Blindman's Blues forum that it shows I am offline while I'm posting - they use a much older version of the same software. The only thing I can guess is that it might be related to logging on "anonymously". Dan is 100% correct. I will occasionally log in and check the box not to be added to the active users list. I'm sure it applies here as well.
  7. More Blue Mitchell is never a bad thing. Thanks for the headsup on this release. I've added it to my Amazon "Wish List".
  8. Actually I already own the Jasper/Wallington recording. I neglected to mention that one. As for "The Cats", I had that in my paws, no pun intended recently when I was visiting Newbury Comics. I'll definitely make of point of purchasing that one in the near future. A friend of mine spoke highly of that release. The Mal Waldron recordings sound interesting since "Coolin" is my first exposure to his playing and I have to say I was highly impressed. The Weston album looks great also especially with the personnel on that session.
  9. A pretty exhaustive list to say the least. Good thing I have a decent paying job and a wife who realises there's no cure for my music addiction. Keeping my eye on the Mosaics: The Complete Pacific Jazz Recordings of Gerald Wilson Blue Note Stanley Turrentine Qt./Sxt. Sessions The Complete Blue Note Hank Mobley Fifties Sessions Oliver Nelson: The Verve/Impulse Big Band Studio Sessions Mosaic Select: Duke Pearson
  10. I'm presently listening to Teddy Charles' album "Coolin'" which features the fine work of trumpeter Idrees Sulieman. Besides this release and the album "The Hawk Flies High" by Coleman Hawkins which I also own, what are some others sessions worthy of consideration? Thanks.

    Hugh Brodie

Guys, you have convinced me enough to check out the show. As I said, the gig is at a local restaurant and a rather small one at that. There's not much room at this place. It'll be interesting to see how they're going to make this thing work. A good plan would probably to get my butt down there early to get a prime spot.

Apparently he's based in "Sullivan County" which is about an hour from me. It's kind of funny. The ad in the paper advertises him as "Legendary Jazz Musician". I guess they figure that might lure a few people like myself in through the door who might not know better?

Saxophonist, Hugh Brodie is playing here Sunday at a local restaurant. I thought of stopping by especially since the place he's playing is advertising "no cover". I have to admit not knowing anything of the gentleman with the exception of the information I was able to obtain from his website. Seems like he played abit with Illinois Jacquet during the 80's for a few years? Has anyone here heard of this gentlemen and willing to add a few thoughts? I'm not sure if I'll get much input here, but thought it was worth a shot? You guys know a heck of alot more than me.
  14. Excellent album, DMP! I finally have some free time to post my recent purchases after this past weekends journey to Boston and Newbury Comics with fellow board member JMJK. 15. FWIW, I was just on J & R Music's website and see a good number of Blue Note titles selling once again for 6.99 and also OJC's for 8.99. Take a look and maybe save yourself a few bucks? J & R Music
  16. I have broadband GA, but I'm alittle hesitant to download the program. I'm definitely curious as to how things work out. No way is this legit.
  17. Late, on quick glance I see the Janos Starker cello concerto performances of Schumann, Saint-Saens and Lalo. I also own this recording and recommend it without hesitation.
  18. Super!!! I'm not sure I'll be able to listen to the live broadcast? But for sure I'll be checking the archives come Tuesday.
  19. Chuck, no need for apologies. It made alot of sense to me at the time. Who would've known? Supposedly Road Runner offers an anti virus program. I did however just click on the Windows Security icon on the lower right hand side of the screen and while it's states the firewall program is ON, it doesn't detect an anti virus program on the computer. Who knows?
  20. JSngry, to answer your question concerning whether Dell provided a backup disc for McAfee? The answer is no. That's the first thing I looked for after I found that I couldn't load the Zone Alarm program onto the computer. Would they provide me with a new disc? Doubtful. When I spoke to the service rep on the phone yesterday, I made mention of going out and purchasing a replacement disc. No offer was tendered to mail me a new one instead. Jim A., as to what exactly I need? Well, Microsoft Vista does have a firewall program and that currently operating. Is that satisfactory enough? You guys may know better than I? As for a anti-virus program that's something I should take care of although RoadRunner does support some sort of anti-virus program. So I'm not completely naked out there. AVG is a product a friend has mentioned to me also and that may be an option? At this point in time, I'm real reluctant to further screw around with this system. When it comes to computers, my knowledge is very limited. I may get my friend from work over here next week, who knows his shit and have him guide my through this. I really appreciate the input here guys and please continue to offer your thoughts if you like? Right now everything is running great and the temptation to mess with things is low. This past week has been very frustrating. I just want to spend alittle time online without getting pissed off.
  21. Speaking of Brahms Piano Concerto's, #2 with Richter and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra is a fine one. Great sonics.
  22. Well certainly no expert here, but one of my favorite concertos is Dvorak's Cello Concerto. A real keeper is this performance featuring the late Mstislav Rostropovich and the Berlin Philharmonic under Herbert von Karajan.
  23. To update you fellas. I took Chuck's advice last night and hit "System Restore" back to May 6'th, the original date I had the new computer connected. It supposedly reloaded the McAfee program and that's caused unfortunately, a whole host of problems which I'm certain Chuck had no intention of causing. When I would boot the computer, shortly after the blue screen would appear with the icons on both the large screen and the bottom of the page, the screen would suddenly go white stating I could not connect to the internet. In both the upper left hand side of the screen and bottom rectangular box appeared, "Toolbar EULA". Whatever the heck that means! This would render all programs inoperable except for shutting down the machine. Nothing would work! I tried numerous times rebooting only to get this white screen with the same Toolbar EULA. I even disconnected from the internet, same result. I got Dell support on the phone and after a lengthy conversation, we placed the place the computer under "Safe Mode" and then hit "System Restore". Everything has returned to "normal" except the McAfee program has disappeared again. As for Zone Alarm, I didn't realise when I made the initial purchase that it wasn't compatible with Windows Vista. It ran great on the old computer running XP. I guess to save myself any further grief, I'll go out and purchase the McAfee program. Too many problems in such a short time, I don't need it.
