  1. It's a shame "The Butthole Surfers" name has already been taken.
  2. Tony, sometimes I feel it at the top of the knees although it's not unusual to feel it along the sides. I'll try to pay more attention next time I run into any difficulty. I'm usually pretty good for most of the ride until towards the end when I tire. It could very well be the fact that perhaps I maybe doing too much too soon. It's just that I get so jazzed up with the progress I'm making, I simply may be overdoing it? Maybe a more gradual approach will suffice? I will also keep the seat adjustment in mind. I think I have it set as low as the seat will go. I remember when I first started riding I lowered the seat, because I didn't feel comfortable riding too high up. I suppose I could adjust that slightly and see if that helps?
  3. To update my progress for those interested. Just this past weekend I completed a 45 mile ride. I was pretty exhausted afterwards, but feeling a great deal of pride being to get this far in such a short period of time. The past month I decided it was time to increase my distance by concentrating on 30 - 35 mile rides. Things we're going so well I just had to attempt at least a 40 mile ride this past Sunday. Well, I was making such good progress I decided to go on abit further and as I said and took it to 45 miles. The only thing I encountered on the negative side from the ride was some sore knees, which lasted less than 24 hours. Something which concerned me alittle. I have to sometimes remind myself like working out with weights not to overdo things. It's a good recipe for injury. I don't quite think I'll shoot for the same distance this upcoming weekend perhaps maybe staying in the 35 - 40 mile range, playing things on the smart side. I'm not certain if there is going to be a charity ride this September or not. Haven't heard anything yet? Even if that falls by the wayside, getting a 50 ride in before season end, looks to be a slam dunk.
  4. I have a neighbor a couple of houses away who once had a passing interest in jazz. He let me borrow some of his albums(lp's) one time. There's another guy a few blocks away who definitely enjoys jazz music. An older gentlemen who has difficulty getting around. Sometimes when I'm passing his house when I'm on my mail route, I'll hear some good stuff coming from inside the house. I tell his daughter now and then to get his dad to play some more jazz! Would love to talk to this guy one day.
  5. I was listening to KCSM and Sonny Buxton mentioned today would have been Hank's 77'th birthday. Thanks Hank for all the great music and enjoyment you have brought to my life.
  6. Well I really dig Dizzy Reece after recently purchasing his Mosaic Select. I'm pretty certain I'll be satisfied with this release.
  7. I've always heard good things about "Flight To Jordan". Anyone else care to add a few thoughts?
  8. I wish I had some extra cash lying around. Unfortunately that's going to the contractor who's working on the house. Hopefully he'll be finishing up in the next week. For now I'm in clampdown mode. I really hate that!
  9. Glad to see this place back up and running. Nothing against AAJ, but this is the best place on the planet to discuss jazz music. Thanks Jim for your efforts.
  10. I've presently listening to DISC 1 of the Lee Morgan Fifties Sessions and admiring the playing of Clarence Sharpe who is featured on alto. "Lee Morgan Indeed!" for those who don't own the Mosaic set. I was wondering since there seems to be very little info. out there? Are there any other sessions which feature his performances? A review on Dusty Groove's website refers to him as "virtually unknown".
  11. The wife would probably kill me, but I have a pretty extensive list of single cds on my wish list. Then again $200 would only scratch the surface of that list.
  12. I don't know who's the bigger ass here, the judge who filed the lawsuit or the judge who allowed this farce to go to trial?
  13. I took advantage of the recent sale and ordered 4 discs. They ended up shipping only 2 of the 4. The titles out of stock could hardly be described as obscure, Blue Mitchell's "The Thing To Do" and the Clifford Jordan/John Gilmore album "Blowing In From Chicago". Orders never filled.
  14. Funny, I received an email in the past few days stating the release might not be available based on it's position in my queue. I moved it up to August and now it's history.
  15. I finally got around to listening to the Oliver Nelson program in it's entirety. Loved it! Thank goodness for the archives. While I don't presently have the cash to purchase the Mosaic set, the show convinced me enough it would be a wise purchase down the road.
  16. I wanted to revive this thread only to express my enjoyment for his Village Vanguard trio recording from 1961. I just purchased this recently and I'm thoroughly enjoying it. This is the only recording I have Junior featured as a leader. I know I have him as a sideman somewhere in my collection. The album title escapes me right now. I will keep in mind the recommendations made in this thread. I've gotta get more of this guy.
  17. I don't know but I've noticed at the Blindman's Blues forum that it shows I am offline while I'm posting - they use a much older version of the same software. The only thing I can guess is that it might be related to logging on "anonymously". Dan is 100% correct. I will occasionally log in and check the box not to be added to the active users list. I'm sure it applies here as well.
  18. More Blue Mitchell is never a bad thing. Thanks for the headsup on this release. I've added it to my Amazon "Wish List".
  19. Actually I already own the Jasper/Wallington recording. I neglected to mention that one. As for "The Cats", I had that in my paws, no pun intended recently when I was visiting Newbury Comics. I'll definitely make of point of purchasing that one in the near future. A friend of mine spoke highly of that release. The Mal Waldron recordings sound interesting since "Coolin" is my first exposure to his playing and I have to say I was highly impressed. The Weston album looks great also especially with the personnel on that session.
