Once again, I'm completely out of sync with current trends.

There are a lot of problems with what you propose. Assuming you could get enough people interested to raise enough money to pay a lawyer to dig into this, what is the legal basis of your complaint? The laws are in place. When you violate them, you pay a penalty. Only solution: change the laws. Unlikely. Have you looked into whether your city has some kind of permit allowing people who drive as part of their jobs to avoid these fines? I can't imagine every delivery truck that double parks for 5 minutes is subject to ticketing. There must be some system in place allowing for deliveries, etc. My 2 cents.

She could have asked to be removed in a polite way. That might have gotten a different response. Maybe she was in a bad mood when she hit the old 'send' button -- her cat just died, her car busted down, whatever. You could send her a polite reply informing her she's been removed, apologies if the rare emails were a nuisance, meant them to be helpful, hope to catch one of your gigs soon. blah, blah, blah. Show her a little kindness. See what happens.

Carmell Jones and Randy Weston Selects in "Running Low"

Carmell Jones and Randy Weston Selects in "Running Low"
papsrus replied to Ron S's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
As verified with Mosaic several years ago, the big boxes are sold in sequence, but the Selects are not (in fact, the newer Selects aren't even individually numbered). Thanks. It was an idle curiosity. I've never noticed, do they ever say that a license on a big box is set to expire on X-date, rather than just categorize it as "running low?" Might be helpful for a buyer who wants to prioritize things. But maybe there's a legal or proprietary reason that they would avoid doing so? -
Carmell Jones and Randy Weston Selects in "Running Low"
papsrus replied to Ron S's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
Both sets arrived yesterday in usual speedy fashion. Couldn't be more pleased. I did notice that the Jones was stamped No. 3711 and the Weston No. 3507. Both are licensed for 5,000 copies, so I would assume, if they are sold in sequence, that their "running low" status is due to the licenses expiring soon on both these sets, rather than the number available getting low. Does Mosaic indicate anywhere on their website when licenses on individual sets expire? -

I will scour the ends of the earth to find this! -
The "Complete" is a Gambit. I was originally looking at "Carl's Blues" (ojc) but "Complete" included the tracks on that title, and I wanted to cut a fairly wide swath as a way of introduction. I have put "In the Land of Jazz" on my save-for-later list, thanks. Thank you for recommending that one! "Homecoming" is now on order. Also: "Introducing Johnny Griffin"

A Pete La Roca rec from save, and also, I really dug Elmo Hope's Trio and Quintet, so I went noodling around for a couple of the sidemen, searched the recs threads here, and came up with a couple of discs featuring Harold Land that I'm pretty excited about. Pete La Roca -- "Basra" Harold Land -- "The Fox" Curtis Counce -- "Complete Studio Recordings: The Master Takes"

we are all schizophrenic enablers

Wordy fellow. The objectionable part of that particular passage is his characterization of MJ as "the greatest performer in any artistic field, ever," but to his larger point: We're all guilty of enabling MJ's excesses, whatever they may have been, because we bought his records? Do those of us who never paid more than fleeting attention to MJ get a pass? -
Niemann throws his second complete-game shutout of the year. (And he actually probably went 10 innings, due to three pretty apparent missed calls that went against the Rays). A's took a lot, lot, lot of first-pitch strikes. Niemann (that big, tall guy out of Rice) threw around 70% of his pitches for strikes. Pretty fearless.

Sorry to hear about the job, PHILLYQ. You seem to be looking at it as a fresh beginning. That's good.

This is at least two different guitars. The first a right-handed model. The last is a left-handed model without the inlay on the fretboard and a different bridge. IMO

Didn't know the man's work, but very sorry to hear this.

Of course. After all he was buried without a brain. He needs brains... As far as the garden snake, I think Paps is saying we are moles who have good reason to fear the garden snake. At least if it's a bull snake or other constrictor. I think what the behavioral scientists were saying is, we think the garden snake is the most important thing to pay attention to, but it really isn't. I think.
