  1. Agreed. And dont forget Graham Griffiths, one of the original partners who was responsible for all those great Japanese imports.
  2. Sad news indeed.
  3. Belated greetings, hope you had a good day.
  4. I voted for Coltrane but on reflection some of the younger players I hear (and there's not that many) seem to sound more like Brecker.
  5. As might be expected this article generated some comment from Coda readers. One interesting thing that emerged from Michael Cuscuna - that there's a tenor battle between Tina and David Newman on Ray Charles' DVD O Genio - Live In Brazil on "Birth of the Band". Apologies if this has come up elsewhere.
  6. Great picture of my favourite guitar man. Thanks for posting.
  7. Happy birthday and many happy returns.
  8. I still have my vinyl double. Definitely one to keep.
  9. I agree a nice cd. I've caught her live, certainly once with Arthur Blythe and once with Lester Bowie, maybe another but my memory fails me. Always delightful whether on organ piano or singing.
  10. Amazingly aired in the UK too last evening.

    AOTW

Well we've run out of volunteers . Looks like this might have to carry on as an occasional feature from now on. However, to keep some order if it's needed I'm happy to carry on taking care of things. There are no rules for AOTW , if you want to volunteer to nominate a recording for discussion just PM me and I'll list you into the next available slot. Simple as that.
  14. Happy birthday Ronald and thanks for all your kindness in the past. Have a great day with the family.

    Buddy Collette

Borrowed this a few months back. It's an interesting read.
  16. I've had this one since the first lp release in the UK. It's still astounding. Glorious two tenor extravaganza with Dizzy to boot.
  17. And there's "Regeneration" with Lacy and Rudd. More Nichols
  18. Happy birthday Vibes.
  19. Happy birthday.
  20. Had this since it's initial release too. I kinda like it. a lot of fun.
  21. I remember these in the early 50s (?). A lot of fun, I still have the right number of toes so I don't think they did much harm to me.
  22. Goes for me too.
  23. Dance!! It's great when that happens, the joy of jazz. Even to relatively jaded ears like mine I still have to get up from time to time.
  24. Nice idea David, I'll have one in the unlikely event of it happenning.
