  1. If it features Peter Madsen on piano ( and most of Pavone's groups do) that's a bonus.
  2. Trusted friends only, but there doesn't seem to be the need borrow/loan these days.

    Hal McKusick

I love McKusick too. The Lonehill, although very dubious, is an excellent way to obtain some of McKusick's best performances. Look out too for 'Now's The Time' GRP), probably deleted but also contains an exceptional collection from the same period. Give em Hal!
  4. My views too. Thanks Bob.
  5. That's good, it's my birthday. But Amazon UK are still telling me mid-March
  6. Happy birthday Andy.

    Gato Barbieri

Not a fan but Fenix has a place in my collection
  8. Pacific Jazz Piano Trios - disc 3 Jazztet - disc 2
  9. Happy birthday, have a great day
  10. Many happy returns. Have a great day.
  11. Happy Birthday, have agood one.
  12. I'll endorse Chartbusters Vol 1(NYC 6017 2). I've not noticed any sound deficiencies with my copy. Seems to be of US manufacture. Another one under the radar, from the same producer is Organic Grooves by the Essence All Stars on hipbop essence. The Dr.shares the disc with Joey Defrancesco, Idris Muhammad, Lenny White, Grover Washington, Kenny Garrett and Tony Purrone. Two or three cds on this label are worth investigating.
  13. Nice set, have the VHS. Well worth having, probably my favourite jazz video
  14. Can only concur, excellent.
  15. Have a great day Nate.
  16. Next up for me is the Mulligan Select.
  17. There are one or two pleasant albums in the Airto discography. I'm not a fan of the recordings under his leadership, in fact most are an instant turn off, but 'Seeds on the Ground' an early effort on Buddah sticks in my mind as being a particularly attractive piece of music making. As a percussionist on numerous jazz albums he's okay.
  18. A very happy birthday Marty.
  19. Frank Hewitt. Also came to appreciate Johnny Smith a great deal more.
  20. Merry Christmas and a happy New Year to everyone.
  21. Still a couple of weeks away from the UK release. Just have to patient a while longer.
  22. I didn't get to many concerts this year. The standout was the World Saxophone Quartet's 'Experience' gig ij London. Locally the best UK group was the Andrea Vicari Quartet with Seb Rochford and Mornington Lockett. Though it's got to be said all the British groups who played locally were uniformly excellent.
  23. Donald Byrd/Gigi Gryce Jazz Lab Quintet; Young Byrd (Milestone twofer)
  24. Not as much listening this year because of moving home, not setting my gear up and deciding not to buy quite so much. But I'd guess these have had rthe most spins this year Frank Hewitt Trio (both cds) Albet Ayler On The Fench Riviera Ahmed Abdullah; Travelling The Spaceways and Song Of Time Dennis Gonzalez; NY Midnight Suite
