  1. Three years! here's to many more.
  2. Thanks Lon, I stand corrected.
  3. Nice site, thanks for the link
  4. I've only heard and seen him with David Murray. He sounds fine their, and Murray has a knack of working with interesting painists. I'd be interested to know more.
  5. I don't know of an instance where Fantasy has edited down a track to fit one of their twofers. I suspect it's all there.
  6. Judging from his commentary in the Cellar Door box he approves of his playing of electric instruments in that band. In fact, a very favorable approving. Was it Jarrett or Chick Corea who once said he'd never again touch an electric keyboard? Back to Jack deJohnette: Has anybody here ever heard the two Columbia or Epic discs of his fusion band Compost, where he played keyboards and Bob Moses handled the drums? A friend af mine had one of the LPs back then, but I never got around to tape it. And doesn't he play keys one one of his newer self-produced items? I have both the Compost albums. They are of their time but rather pleasant. You'll also find some keys on Special Edition too.
  7. Absolutely right, 'The Flam' is a real spine tingler. The essential Frank Lowe recording. And great Alex Blake.
  8. Have a very Happy Birthday Big Al.
  9. Have a very Happy Birthday!
  10. Just a youngster, Happy Birthday, have a great day!
  11. Seems to be all round the year here whatever the weather.
  12. Eric Dolphy; Far Cry (part of Prestife twofer 'Magic').
  13. I'm in the UK and can recommend The Woods. They are not the fastest to fulfill orders but they are reliable. Shipping is included in the UK prices so I'd guess that their overseas shipping is reasonable. They never charge your card until the order is shipped. Drop them an email. Well, I ordered. They told me their US shipping is 1.50GBP for a 1 CD order, less (so this is presumably per CD) for larger orders. Guy That's a good price. I coudn't airmail a cd to the US for that.

No one has mentioned 'The Catbird Sings' on Black Siant. Same band as 'Tree Frog' Postscript; Drummer is Andrew Cyrille on this and 'Tree Frog'
  16. Happy Birthday, have a great day
  17. Happy birthday!
  18. Thanks for the Gokudo link. Excellent.
  19. Don't pass up 'Hot'. there is som every nice playing from Bley 'When will the blue leave' and 'Mazatlan' both get fine performances from Bley. Tried 'Earth Density' today. As you'd expect a swinging number, something more open, a drum and flute piece in the AEOC tradition. If you like the pricipal principal players then I recommend this one.
  20. This is not my idea of good Hutcherson. Mostly repetitive figures on marimba sounding vibes. Woody only gets to solo on two of the five tracks tracks, typical Woody stuff, he doesn't even get to solo on his own 'Rosewood'. The best track is the title track, a nice straight ahead number.
  21. Again I've not played the Moye/Jarman for a while, but I'd say it is typical Black Saint fare.
  22. It's on my shelf. Unfortunately I can't remember anything about it. I'll give it a spin and let you know (if no one else comes up with it).
  23. At the Lush Life in NYC. I'd be playing it now but my pc doesn't want to recognise the disc
  24. I have 'Hot'. It's an interresting group with Sco, Swallow and Altschul, recorded live in 1985. I've not played it for a while but I recall it being an enjoyable set. Sorry don't have the others.
  25. Freddie Redd In Sweden; Baybridge (J)
