  1. I agree, wonderful music.
  2. My turn in the chair today. Repair a broken tooth, a little remedial work. Total price for basic National Health Service dentistry (nothing ccosmetic) £26.24. Considering the time and care taken I'm more than pleased. Found out that dentist likes Weather Report and Wayne Shorter. Recommended Wayne's Blue Notes and tried to sell him tickets for the Portsmouth Jazz Society's upcoming Stan Tracey gig.
  3. Now wouldn't that be something!
  4. I was going to give this one a miss as the last two or three Lovano's didn't do a lot for me. But after hearing a broadcast of them live (Dennis Mackrel for Motian) I'm going to have to get if only for Hank Jones' elegant contributions.
  5. Thelonious Monk London Collection Vol 3 (remastered). I've not heard any previous cd issue but this one sounds pretty good. The notes mention that it includes two tracks not in the Mosaic box.
  6. I flunked on the Surman, should have remembered that one. What happened to q.83?
  7. I think I can manage another. They have all been consistently good and Jarrett has a great way with standards, tempo and interpretation is always spot on.
  8. Have a great birthday, hope it's nice in Toronto.
  9. Happy birthday Lon.
  10. If it's not a large amount suggest you send Euros by Registered post.
  11. Thanks for that Adrian, glad you had a good evening.
  12. Adrian, please post a review of the LMO. Shame they are not playing in the south this time around.
  13. I bought all the Jarrett American and European Quartet albums when they first came out but sold them all a few years later. I guess I must have overdosed on Jarrett to such an extent that I ignored the standards trio for about ten years but now they are among my favourite groups I was able to borrow the double cd version of "Fort Yawuh" and hearing it again now for the first time in about twenty years I think I probably made the right decision not to keep the originals. Jarrett plays very well, better than I remember, as do Motian and Haden but I'll confess not to be too keen on Redman's playing and Danny Johnson is just an irritation. So overall, nice to hear it again for Jarrett, Haden and Motian but Redman still puts me off. I wont be rushing out to buy the set.
  14. Just listening to Hank with Joe Lovano, lovely, elegant playing from the pianist. Many happy returns Hank.
  15. Much more than just a take on electric Miles? Good to hear Leo Smith at length, even through the wa-wa device.
  16. I don't know anything about Crispell's free playing but the three ECM albums are certainly very enjoyable with very fine support from Peacock, Motian and Helias. All players who are very much to my taste. I think I'd probably agree that Amaryllis is the best of the bunch but Storyteller seems to be growing on me.
  17. Kenny Dorham; Whistle Stop. BRILLIANT!!
  18. Definitely, you get the bonus of Sonny Clark on two of the sessions. Some of the best Criss on record.
  19. Impossible, Pharoah's on three tracks. Drake is the only trap drummer. Klod Kiavue and Francois Ladrezeau play ka and boula drum respectively.
  20. Happy birthday Gary, mate. Hope you have a great day with loads of cds to unwrap. Let's have a beer before too long.
  21. Let me agree with Jim and John. Mighty fine.
  22. Give "ROOTS" a try. I have it too, an enjoyable date.
  23. Nice cd.
  24. Worktime was the beginning for me. It was the first Rollin's album I bought. "Show Business" still gives me much the same thrill as when I first heard it all those years ago.
