  1. Good news indeed, though I wont be persuaded to dispose of my vinyl of "Untitled Gift". Fine session, great group.
  2. I'd love to pop by, just a tad too far. Sorry.
  3. It's Wayne Shorter for me. A superb body of work.
  4. Me too.
  5. I'm in the "not too impressed" camp where their recordings are concerned. And like Spontooneous Potter is not my favouite soloist and I could do without the vibes. They certainly come over better live, Eubanks especially where you can really appreciate his sound. The first ECMs with Priester and Coleman still do it for me.
  6. Have a great day. Peace.
  7. Gary, are you coming to Marsh for the first time here?

    ornette on tenor LP

Not played for a while but when it first came out on lp it was probably the most played of my Atlantic Ornettes. Don't see any reason to change my mind now. As Jim says, go for it.
  9. Prompted by the Stan Kenton Presents thread I've ordered the set today.
  10. I've only just heard the sad news today. He must have passed away just as I was going on holiday. I wish I could have seen him more often.
  11. Essential in any collection imo. The original album was great but with the additional tracks and remastering it's now something else. If you don't have it-get it and marvel.
  12. I've not got around to getting this yet as I've so much of it on vinyl. What I have is great and the cd transfers will make it even better. I'm sure you wont be disappointed. Incidentally I will be getting it before very long.
  13. Today's lunch, grilled mackerel on brown toast. Simple, tasty, good for you, quick and easy to make.
  14. The previously mentioned Andrew Hill on CIMP is certainly worth checking out. I'd also recommend Eight (+3) Tristano Compositions 1989 For Warne Marsh on Hat. If you want something a little different you could do worse than try Seven Standards 1995. Braxton leads from the piano with Dave Douglas, Thomas Chapin, Mario Pavone and Pheeroan Ak Laff.
  15. One-Boss Guitar. Can't say that the others mean very much to me.
  16. Are there potted palms in the background? If so I'd say it was taken in dance hall rather than a festival.
  17. I don't think it's Harriott or Seamen or Deuchar or any of the other names mentioned. I'd be very surprised if it originates from the UK.
  18. I have the original Columbia/Lansdowne issue of the first Indo-Jazz Suite, Columbia SX 6025. No recording date is given but the lineup is- Joe Harriott (as); Eddie Blair (t, fh); Pat Smythe (p); Rick Laird (bass); Allan Ganley (d) and John Mayer (vn, hps); Chris Taylor (f); Diwan Motihar (sit); Chandrahas Paigankar (tmb); Keshav Sathe (tbl)
  19. Happy 34th Stefan
  20. Sidewinder, Zermatt sounds fine but I think a trifle extravagant for my slender means. I was hoping for something in London or the south of England for UK members (plus any others) though I could probably be persuaded to spend a day or so in Paris or Brussells.
  21. Where are the UK members? Let's here from you.
  22. I've tried to resist Definitives output because of the rip-off issue but in the end I couldn't resist the DeFranco/Clark cds. I've also ordered the Getz/Brookmeyer. As Brownie says Verve could have reissued these years ago.
  23. Dennis Gonzalez NY Quartet; NY Midnight Suite
