  1. LMAO! That is a good one.
  2. Was Demon's Dance released in the superb TOCJ BN Works series? If so, how is the sound there?
  3. Second the RVG Monks; a marked improvement
  4. The jazz albums are on a separate page: http://www.harveyalbums.com/27201.html Thanks. I was looking for a page two, but I guess I didn't see it. It did seem hard to believe that they would exclude the Ra.
  5. Sonny Stitt and Sonny Criss Dodo Marmarosa and Dodo Greene Urbie Green and Ubie Blake
  6. I can't keep these guys straight: Bobby Hutcherson and Booby Hutcherson Grachan Moncur III and Gracham Moncur III Bob Cranshaw and Bob Crenshaw
  7. Thanks Tom! There was so much more too, and I had to make some difficult choices because I capped out my $200 budget!
  8. Don't have one to sell (cuz I'm keeping mine ) but I did see one used for $20, don't know if someone's bought it yet, but pm me if you want location. HG
  9. Funny, the McMaster spells it as Cranshaw
  10. You can have him sign the RVG cd, as they corrected his name there.
  11. Interesting site, thanks for posting. I knew Savoy recorded gospel but I never really grasped just how many gospel albums Savoy released until I saw how many covers Harvey painted for them. Looks like nobody posted The Futuristic Sounds of Sun Ra there either.
  12. Yeah same here. I don't recall who turned me on to the wonderful world of Henry Threadgill and AIR, but thank you whoever and wherever you are. Oh and one more: thank you Soul Stream for turning me on to John Patton!
  13. Good luck Peter, hope you land one at a decent price.
  14. May we have a list then of what would universally be called a trainwreck and vote on those? I mean, the title of this thread is what we "think" are trainwrecks, right?
  15. The first track is a bit of a mess, although I dig it.
  16. I think its Of Love and Peace you're thinking of because I think some (don't know who right off hand, but I think a thread exists somewhere talking about it) complained about Eddie Gale's trumpet playing to the degree that they think it ruins the session. Personally I'm not bothered by Gales's playing, in fact I like this session quite a bit along with Mothership (perhaps another candidate for trainwreck status).
  17. Ginormous used cd haul in Chicago: first off Herb Ellis: Nothing but the Blues-Verve for $8!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 18. lol. me too. I think I would really like to hear that McLean BN session from 1968 with Norman Connors.
  19. Regret selling the 10inch Conn.
  20. Yeah, what a sad year or two for reissues: no conns, no rvgs, barely a Prestige rvg or two. Those days are long gone, if we're discussing a remastered edition of Soul Station.
  21. I can't think of any bad Hill albums, but some may disagree. Compulsion!!!!!, Judgment, Andrew!!!!, Smokestack, Dance with Death, Passing Ships in that order, and that's just the BN's. Andrew was an amazing artist and he is a treasure trove that will probably take years to cover. You can't go wrong with any Hill album.
  22. Wow. Sad sad news. Recall the song The Replacements wrote about him on "Pleased to Meet Me".
  23. Verve Elite Collectors Edition Miles Davis-Birdland 1951-BN John Patton-Blue John-BN CC John Patton-Along Came John-BN
  24. Happy Birthday to one of my all-time favorite artists! Almost not a day goes by where I don't think about all the great music he's given us.
