  1. My top five (and it was very tough to choose, as I like practically everything he's done): Pithecanthropus Erectus (Atlantic) (really, all of those Atlantic dates from that period are essential) Mingus Mingus Mingus Mingus Mingus (Impulse!) (Black Saint is essential too) Mingus (Candid) Charles Mingus Presents Charles Mingus (Candid) The Great Concert of Charles Mingus (America/Verve) (really, anything with Dolphy is essential with the Cornell Blue Note date earning an honorable mention)
  2. Still readily available at Amazon US too, although that may or may not help you Ubu, because things could be different in Europe.
  3. Man, some of you guys were so lucky. All I get to do is drool over those acts that were there during the day.
  4. The Hill would be a welcome edition to what little live Hill there is, along with the Montgomery, but I'm not holding my breath in light of the fact that there's been no Conn's this year, one RVG batch, and the Hubbard. All an' all, its not looking real good.
  5. I've seen them listed at Amazon as well, in some cases, even more expensive than the FMP reissues!
  6. Both Leo Parkers have been reissued in the RVG series, is there more material somewhere else?
  7. Long shot, but any chance there could be some Ayler footage?
  8. The Water reissue is still available, and the remastering/packaging (the Ayler and Blue Notes for example) have been very good.
  9. That AEC clip is incredible!
  10. I only have the Latin Side of John Coltrane and I honestly don't dig it out very often, but I respect his skills and talent nonetheless.
  11. All night poker fest...when I should be in bed
  12. The IS sessions are awesome!
  13. Yup, couldn't sell Monk's Blue's fast enough. Just did not do a damn thing for me.
  14. As a listener, there's nothing about his drumming that stands out as exemplary or outstanding to me. Its just average at best. Just my opinion of course.
  15. Incredible used cd blowout in Pittsburgh today: Chick Corea-The Song of Singing-BN Cecil Taylor-Silent Tongues-Freedom Chet Baker Quartet Live Vol. II-Out of Nowhere-Pacific Jazz Howard McGhee/Tal Farlow Quartet-Vol II-BN 10inch Conn Alan Silva-Skillfulness-ESP/ZYX Bill Dixon-Vade Mecum-Soul Note David S. Ware Quartet-Oblations and Blessings-Silkheart Records
  16. Still not convinced Phil Collins is all that.
  17. Thanks Clifford.
  18. Meg White and Phil Collins.
  19. Can't wait for these as I have never owned/heard a Horo LP, I only got to drool over them over at EBay.
  20. Concerning Abstract, did Columbia and Capitol collaborate for the production of this session? I was looking at the cover at Amazon and saw no label indication on it. Can anyone fill me in why these two labels are involved? Thanks! HG
  21. Never heard of them ! Wonder if this is a boot? (there again, what isn't these days). What label put out the first cd edition? It seems the US label was Jazzland, so was it in the OJC CD series?
