  1. Never heard the Last Album, but the other two in question from this period, New Grass and Healing Force, Healing Force, IMO is a far better, and more cohesive work. I actually dig Ayler's bagpipe chantor (or whatever its called) in a free jazz context and the double basses add a richer context to the music. Now having said that, the first three tracks are really good and recall the more experimental period up to about 1967, then the next two tracks are more of a throwback to New Grass. Drudgery, the final track, is somewhere in between, a peculier track at best. New Grass, on the other hand, which is an album that has its moments, just never really warmed up to me. I think I understand that Ayler had a "new message" but I guess I just don't like the context, which that message was given in. Oh well. I prefer from his Impulse! period, The Complete Greenwich Village and Love Cry instead.
  2. DVR'd the Nadal v. Gonzalez match. Del Potro's through to the semis.
  3. You're really going to enjoy those Hill disks.
  4. Did anyone pick up MONK and Moving Out today? Curious if there's an improvement.
  5. Doesn't Ryan Seacrest have at least 10 shows?
  6. My wife's better. She definitely exhibited flu-like symptoms but the "virus" itself ran its course in less time than the typical 24 hour flu, so I'm wondering if it was something else like food poisioning.
  7. RFed and the Djoker and ? and ?. I think I see Nadal getting by Gonzalez. I'm more interested in the Del Potro v. Cilic match.
  8. Yeah agree. I'd think going back to three judges and allowing DeGarmo or whatever her name is, replace Paula.
  9. Well Oudin has been eliminated.
  10. French Vanilla coffee. Gonna need a lot of it as I see a long night ahead of me.
  11. It's been raining off and on since Monday. Guess its a good thing we got all of our BBQ's out of the way by Sunday.

  17. First major upset in the men's draw: #2 Murray defeated in straights!
  18. Djokovic through with an easy straight set win last night, as well as Del Potro and Clijsters today, but the real drama is Murray's two sets and a break down to Chilic!
  19. Stanley Wilson's music for the "M-Squad" show comes to mind. He had some excellent players on it like Pete Candoli, Frank Rosolino, Benny Carter and Red Mitchell! Ornette Coleman's Forms and Sounds. Great album cover, which the Bluebird cd issue didn't use.

    Another great master! HB!
  21. Just finished playing Rollins Plays for Bird. Hope there's many more years of great music to come from this master.
  22. Had one done in my early 20's and it was a nightmare. The pain was so bad that the dentist was pouring novacaine directly on the tooth. I was scheduled for a second visit the following week and he put a temporary bond on top of the tooth. Well somehow, my tooth got infected and I wasn't even aware of this until I bit down on a banana, which felt like someone slammed a hammer down on my tooth. The pain was absolutely excruciating, which prompted an emergency visit. Since it was a wisdom tooth, I decided to have all four wisdom teeth extracted instead of continuing with the root canal. I pray that I never have to go through that again.
  23. Up tonight foolin' around at Organissimo
  24. If you go to Mexico, Cuban cigars are prominently for sale at the airport. After that, you are on your own. I'd be real careful with that. My buddy bought a few [what he thought were Cohibas] and they were not only a knock-off but had "dry rot" for want of a better term. Went up like a matchstick. I will say this, though...I have been fortunate to have smoked real Cubans [Romeo y Juliet and a Cohiba Robusto] that my same buddy bought when in France and then England. Both were an excellent smoke, but they are so strong I had to put them down after a while then finish them later. Smoked a real cuban cigar when I was in Ireland last year. It was good, but not great and I wouldn't feel like I'd be missing out on something if I never smoked one again, but I'm still glad I did. It was rolled very well and it lasted a long time. I do recall it being on the stronger side, but I can't recall the name brand. I had to take a picture of me smoking it for my friends as proof that I actually did smoke one.
