  1. Get a Killers tattoo.
  2. Lee Konitz-Unaccompanied Live in Yokohama-October 24th 1996-Modern Music (Japan) Anyone no more details about this one? Can't seem to find a listing for it.
  3. Don't recall if this one's been mentioned, but The Max Roach Trio featuring the Legendary Hasaan is definitely worth listening to. Quite frankly, Hasaan went in the background as soon as I started listening to what Roach was doing, which sounded like gestural splashes of improvised drumming that I've never quite heard like this before, and certainly not like anything I've heard Roach do on the other disks I have. For example, the track "Almost Like Me" finds Roach playing in between, through, behind and in front of Hasaan, if that makes any non-musician's sense. It floored me the first time I heard it. I could just listen to that kind of playing solo any day.
  4. Yeah World B3, your avatar is exactly what's on my mind. Lawrence of Newark was not what I was expecting from 1973 Larry Young; this album is WAY heavier than his BN's! Those first two tracks, Sunshine Fly Away and Khalid of Space Part Two-Welcome (with Juni Booth laying down some thick bass) were mindblowing.
  5. The Office-Season Finale
  6. Just got this one today and its quite good: Andrew Cyrille & Maono-Metamusician's Stomp-Black Saint
  7. Good used hall today: Anthony Braxton-Composition 165-New Albion Eddie Bert-Encore!-Savoy Sun Ra-Live At Club Lingerie-Transparency Andrew Cyrille-Metamusician's Stomp-Black Saint Dave Burrell-Windward Passages-Hat Hut Steve Lacy-Plays Monk-Fuel 2000
  8. I really dig Lift Every Voice; its one of Hill's most interesting experiements. Now albeit, I don't play it as often as Compulsion! or Andrew! but I certainly wouldn't ignore it because of the voices. In fact, I can't imagine this record without the voices. Give it a few more listens, then decide whether you dig it or not.
  9. Celebrity Apprentice
  10. Some LP's. Tommy Turrentine-Time Records Dave Brubeck-Impressions of Eurasia-Columbia 6 eye stereo, with the disk still sealed in the manufacturer's bag. Dave Brubeck-The Riddle-Columbia 6 Eye stereo All for $12
  11. Yes, it was a Conn about 10 years ago or so and its been OOP for roughly about the same time.
  12. Yes, I would, especially at that price; I usually like those Columbia Brubeck records. And Columbia six eyes LPs are finely made and have wonderful sound. This Tommy Turrentine album is a gem. It is a fine hard bop session. I picked up the Turrentine and the Brubecks today. All disks are in great shape and one is still factory sealed in the plastic inner sleeve (there is a perferated top that you tear along) so in essence, its a mint, sealed Columbia 6 eye!. The sleeves are all in excellent shape, with no splitting, or ring-wear, just a strange, square-like tear on the back of two of them. Otherwise these albums were well-taken care of. All three for the tidy some of $12. Man, I love Half Price!
  13. They are still pushing the dud. Not surprised. The last major recall that I can remember was the defective Dialogue disk...and they were pretty quick to address and resolve that issue.
  14. Forgot to check...probably will forget to check again. Finally got around to checking and indeed, its the notes for True Blue And my RVG copy of Oblique also has the correct spelling of Herbie Hancock's name on it too.
  15. Yeah same here. Stay safe.
  16. Have I been mis-pronouncing Donald Byrd's name all this time? Is it Bird or By-erd?
  17. I just posted in the twilight zone at 4:47am, when its really 10:40am (I think ). Apparently, I have the gift to post in my sleep
  18. So I take it to be somewhat of a gem? Man, I'll buy it just for the album cover. There's no date on it, so I can't tell what issue it is, but based on the inner sleeve, which is this old crumbly wax paper, it seems to be an original issue.
  19. Ok, no vinyl expert (and no turntable for that matter) but how rare is the Tommy Turrentine record on Time? There's an excellent copy (very clean vinyl, no splits or ring wear on the jacket) I have on hold at Half Price for $4. Also, there's a slew of Brubeck 6 eyes there two, and one is still actually sealed in the plastic bag (Eurasia I think) and one I never heard of (the Riddle w/ Bill Smith). These are $4 too. Take the plunge?
  20. Still on the cooler side, with lots of rain and highs sticking around 65 degrees...now that's my kind of weather!
  21. I've seen Sonny only once at Severence Hall in Cleveland in 2001, and he was on the case, even though he was sick and was supposed to have a "meet and greet" before hand but canceled that. He played great nonetheless and had the crowd on their feet by the time he played Tenor Madness for the encore. Wish Sonny would come back to Cleveland, but apparently we are always on the backburner when it comes to big name jazz acts. A pity.
  22. Yeah, me neither. Everyone I've bought from here so far has been honest with their listings and fast to ship upon payment.
  23. Easy, Bye-ard. Maybe for you! Thanks though!
  24. Don't know if this name came up, but can someone tell me how to pronounce Byard Lancaster? Thanks.
  25. Does anyone know what exactly is the "Original Jazz Classics Imprint"? I see there's no "OJC" label on the front of the cover above...is this going to be a new series or something like that?
