Yes, I was hoping it was possible to hook-up a HD right to a stereo. I gotta believe it'll be possible in the (hopefully) not too distant future.

For you folks that have your music on hard drives, is it possible to hook-up the hard drive to a conventional stereo? Can you play music directly off the HD to something other than a computer?
  3. Ordered two by mistake. This one is sealed. Yours for $10, shipping included (domestic). Paypal.
  4. I've not noticed any discussion on Cline joining Jeff Tweedy's "rock" band, Wilco. Cline appears on their new release "kicking Television Live in Chicago". I like this recording, but Cline's solos could be better integrated w/ the band. The songs are fairly conventionally structured for the most part and then Cline goes wild. Kind of reminds me of hearing Sun Ra playing a song fairly straight and then Marshall Allen taking a solo and energy blowing for all he's worth. I prefer some kind of build-up or transition, FWIW.
  5. Guess I'll have to give it a few more spins. Hasn't done much for me so far.
  6. Rounder apparently "misunderestimated" the demand for this item. They are out of stock till February. Guess I'm not going to heard this one for a couple of months. If Chuck can wait 40 years, I can wait 2 months.
  7. The point I was trying to make was if Weir's rhythm was stronger, Garcia could have continued playing lead rather than have to cover for Weir. Garcia has stated this himself. Of course in later years when Garica and Lesh were mailing it in (each under the influence of the substance of his choice) Weir really came into his own as a song writer and singer. I agree with you regarding Hart's return. especially in the 80s & 90s the band became rather plodding due, in part, to the twin drum arrangement. In any case, I've been a fan for over 30 years now and saw them about 20 times, mostly in the late seventies with Keith & Donna, but a couple of times in the 80s in the Touch of Grey era. Saw them at the old Uptown theatre in Chicago a bunch of times. They used to do a run of 5 shows or so there every year. Saw them at Northen Illinois-DeKalb, Milwaukee, Madison, Twin Cites, Apline Valley. Summerfest of 1978 or 79 was very bad. Both the Dead & Allmann Bros were rained out.
  8. It's all subjective of course, but it's fun to debate! To butress my arguement, I'd point to those times when the band was reaching a climax in a jam and Garcia would start playing rhythm (chords) to add more force to the climax. If Weir was carrying his weight, Garcia wouldn't have had to do that. I'd also point to the time when Weir & Pig were fired from the band. Pig's keyboard chops were limited, and while I think he was, as Lesh states in his book, a great blues shouter, there's only so many times you can listen to Love Light. His repertoire was too limited.
  9. Listen to the stuff from pre-Europe '72. Weir is very much in the background (when you can hear him at all) and Lesh is very much out front. Garcia, Lesh and the drummers were the core of the Dead jamming machine back when the band was (for me) at its peak.
  10. Actually, I speculate in limited releases on occassion. I thought the Dead Filmore box to be a no brainer, but had no idea it would sell out in pre-sale! Looks like they really underestimated the market on it.
  11. The sold-out in presale Grateful Filmore box is up to $300! I'm glad I bought 2 copies! http://cgi.ebay.com/Grateful-Dead-Filmore-...1QQcmdZViewItem
  12. Just got this email from Amazon regarding Gerry Mulligan Jeru Hello from Amazon.com. We're writing about your Amazon.com Marketplace order The Sony CD(s) in this order contain XCP digital rights management (DRM) software. 15. Having consumed the recent RVG & Connoisseur re-issues I find myself wondering, what's next? Anybody know? Would especially like an RVG of Jackie Mac's "It's Time!" It's the only one I'm missing from the Mosaic.

  19. I recently purchased the new 3 disc reissue of Bill Evan's Complete Village Vanguard Recordings, 1961 with Scott LaFaro & Paul Motion. Disc 1, Track 2 skips in both my office & car CD players. Has anyone had similar problems? Thanks.
  20. I have not heard "Far Away Lands" but I dig just about everything that has Cedar Walton & Billy Higgins togather.
  21. I'll buy any disc on which Rudd gets some solo space. I heartily recommend all of the above, even the one w/o Roswell.
  22. Per CDUniverse it looks like the Blue Notes are on track for 10/04/05. I'll prbably get them all.
