  1. I was hoping for Solstice. No takers for Willie the Lion Smith? It's good stuff. Ended up with two when I gave-up on caimen and they came thru after a couple months!
  2. I'd like the Towner. Peter Zwiefelhofer 7311 W. Burleigh St. Milwaukee, WI 53210 Thanks.
  3. Available: The Chronogical Willie the Lion Smith 1938-40. Post requests to this thread only.
  4. AMG certainly raves about it!
  5. If I've got a conventional CD player, should I buy the SACD hybred or the 20bitK2, assuming no price difference (as is the case at yourmusic.com). Is the non-SACD music 20bitK2 or contentional remastering? Thanks.
  6. #506, and it was a pre-order.
  7. Well caiman has confirmed my order and says they'll ship tomorrow. Seems too good to be true, a new mosaic at less than $8 per disc including shipping!
  8. I'd been on the fence re the Farlow, but casacaiman's price roped me in. Hope there's one left!
  9. Personal opinions are a large part of what this bulletin board is all about. Out in the "world" people often don't give rat's ass what you think, but here people do (at least as so far as jazz is concerned)! So please offer your opinion on the best/worst blue notes for the following categories. Feel free to add your own categories as well. My nominations follow each category: Best Recording not released until long after the fact: Hard to believe that Wayne Shorter's Etc. sat in the can for a decade or two before being released! Honorable mention for Tina Brooks' Back to the Tracks. Worst Recording from the Alfred Lions Era: Freddie Hubbard's Night of the Cookers. Just got this one and was VERY dissappointed. In fact, it inspired this posting. Worst Recording from the post Lions era: This category should atract lots of nominations, so I'll pass for now. Fre
  10. I also have a Sam Rivers Mosaic that I would let go for $90 plus actual postage costs. email me at petezwief@gdinet.com if interested.
  11. Anybody out there with a Miles Davis & John Coltrane Complete Columbia discography on their computer? If yes, would you mind posting it here? Thanks!

Count me as one satisfied customer. I ordered Miles Complete 7 Steps on 1/6. They shipped on 1/7. It came today (1/12). Looks perfect. They don't even put on a statement like BMG's "Manufactured by BMG Direct". Looks just like the $119.95 one you get in the store except I paid $34.95 including shipping!
  13. I bought Maria Schneider's "Concert in the Garden" at the lowest "participation" level for $16 or $17 bucks. Not cheap. but not out of line. I sent an email to Danilo Perez stating that I thought his pricing was bound to alienate his fans. Look's like it is.
  14. Well the disc is now available on Danilo Perez's website for $35. I think I'll pass. I understand that it's hard for artists to make a go of it, but that's no excuse for absurd pricing like this! @#$%&*!!!!!!!
  15. I'm bummed. Just tried to order some of those Silver Rock Signature Knobs. You guys must of got there 1st cause they're sold out (uunless you're willing to settle for pine)!
  16. Green magic markers!!! Brings back memories of the eary days of CDs. Supposedly, if you colored the outer edges of your CDs green, you'd get improved sound.

    How's their selection?
  19. You've got to fork out for the Art Pepper Complete Galaxy. Another Fantasy issued box. Really top, top drawer stuff.
  20. Chicago is a VERY happening town. Giving NY a run for it's money all right!!!
  21. Well I almost didn't go. It's a pain in the ass driving down to Chicago. But Henry Threadgill is special and his appearances in this part of the country are rare. My first time at the Hot House. Probably the nicest "jazz" club I've been in. Roomy, but intimate. The band was in top form. All excellent musicians and improvisers. The sound was great. A very tight, well rehearsed ensemble. They all seem to be doing something different but it all fits together just perfect. Played 2 45 minutes sets. The music had my foot tapping all night, though they certainly don't swing in a conventional sense. Very rhythmic, angular music. Tuba, cello, drums and oud formed a curious but very compelling rhythm section. A very enthusiastic and appreciative audience. The house was maybe 75% of capacity. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Threadgill is a truly unique talent. A genius in my view.
  22. Cool! More $$$ for more music!
  23. Very dissappointed in this one. Sidemen get a lot of space, but do very little with it. Tuba player seems to have a somewhat limited comand of his instrument. Drummer gets a lot of space but apparrently is not much of an improvizer as he does very little of interest.
  24. Henry Threadgill & Zooid at Hothouse in Chicago, IL 12/17 & 12/18. Go to www.hothouse.net for more info. I'm hoping to make the treck from Milwaukee Friday nite.
  25. Ageed!
