Yeah those Hinos on Canyon are great. I like this Victor album too, the Berlin Jazz Festival one is also nice.

Original album was released on Polydor in the UK, which is the version I have and it is indeed a stellar recording.

Yeah, I wish there was a searchable OCR'ed image database containing each issue of Down Beat. But, as an archivist by trade, I can tell you that that would be extremely expensive and garner almost no profits, and such initiatives are wholly married to the powers that be -- so while a company or institution may support it for a while, as soon as they don't, the whole thing goes kaput.

Haha yep. Spend your money at Spoonbill & Sugartown in Brooklyn, who are struggling to make their $14,000 monthly rent and are among the last standing independent bookstores in the Williamsburg/Greenpoint area.

yeah, Strand is fucking people over. I think she's full of shit. Pushed out a lot of smaller bookstores in that area of NYC as well (or at least contributed to pushing them out) 20+ years ago.

as far as NoBusiness goes, the Guy is probably strong and the Bailey/Takagi looks pretty interesting. I also am curious about the Toyozumi-Gustafsson disc; S.T. is a wonderful drummer.

Yep. Luckily was able to obtain a lot of the more obscure Lacy LPs before they got outrageously expensive.
