  1. this was under Helma Schleif's administration of FMP. The divisions of FMP were partly due to artists' pay-in, and smaller sub-labels like OWN or Uhl Klang were basically imprints where artists could use FMP's distribution and manufacturing for material that would otherwise have been self-released. I think the artists bought in with these smaller imprints, whereas to have something on FMP did not require such a buy-in.
  2. yeah, this was originally on O'Be (Orville O'Brien's label). It was also issued on Mercury in Japan.
  3. yeah, shipping to the US is probably pretty expensive, I'd gather. I don't mind forking over for the set itself, but if they gouge like another $150 to ship, I don' think I could justify it... christ, $125 to ship. Wonder what Royal Mail certified would be?
  4. I am hoping to be able to get the LP set. Have a bunch of this stuff on CDs but those are in storage and some have gotten a bit scruffy with age, so... would be cool if Dusty Groove carries it.
  5. Mats's collection is pretty stunning. Hope in a couple years to bring everything out of storage and get it all better arranged before I get tired of it and sell it all!
  6. Sad news.
  7. Got the book but haven't read very far. To be honest, the print is quite small and I need new glasses.
  8. Eftsoons is the only Nessa I don't have. Need to rectify that.
  9. Saunier is a fantastic drummer, by the way, though I have yet to hear this particular stuff. I'm sure he's on fire.
  10. also more than likely bootlegs...
  11. for a second I thought it might be a Circle reunion, but alas...
  12. I actually like those for what it's worth. Can't explain it, but I do.
  13. Sadao Watanabe's records from the '60s and '70s are fabulous. I don't think there's a real clinker in the bunch, at least not until you get to the smoother fusion sounds of the late '70s/early '80s (not my cuppa).
  14. yeah I have a CD-R bootleg (not DMG) so at least I can listen to the thing when I want. Great record, never scored an original alas...
  15. ugh, that sucks -- it's clearly a bootleg, so...
  16. I didn't know about this. Will definitely kick some his way and spread the word. Have felt supremely lucky to see Ted play a number of times as well as interview him some years back. He's one of the greats.
  17. Have this on LP and quite enjoy it. Someone else will too.
  18. haven't dug that LP out in quite some time. Bill was working as Russell's copyist and there was some talk of him joining the band... this would have been after Ellis' departure and before Russell's Scandinavian sojourn.
  19. Yes, Bill Dixon lived in that building at that time also.
  20. yeah mine is awful. As an archivist I have had to work very hard in making my handwriting clear on folders and other documents for researchers. It's not easy!
  21. Lot of brilliant artists in various fields can't spell for shit. Not uncommon. Certainly jibes with my experience.
  22. yeah, excellent album. now: Pierre Dubois (recordist and occasional performer) -- Amazonie, Folklore des tribus indiennes -- (VDE, CH orig)
  23. How much!?!?!
