  2. not all DRUMZ are created equal, however... yeah, that one also uses melody to a great extent. "Bert The Cat" is amazing.
  3. Inspired by Shawn Dudley's instagram, Larry Coryell -- Lady Coryell -- (Vanguard Apostolic, US)
  4. Cool -- I have the first one on LP that Aketa did and it's relatively free. They are all quite rare, and I've not heard much else (save for the Seikatsu).
  5. man, that is really fine.
  6. Must be the hat.
  7. probably, yeah. I have heard that they are legitimate but I don't know what the sources are.
  8. I remember that CD being terribly mastered.
  9. yeah, it's not on the Dusty site yet but I'll keep my eye out.
  10. 11 LP Gearbox set? That is something else.
  11. I talked to him once -- he called me while I was at a pizza parlor shortly after the early 00's Marion Brown Quartet CD reissue came out on the then-recently-revived ESP. He was really nice. Love his tenor playing, and he loved Marion Brown.
  12. cool -- I now have the Japanese pressing on Columbia, which sounds a bit better than the French America pressing.
  13. That's great!
  14. Richard Williams, the trumpeter, allegedly attacked saxophonist Frank Smith at Slugs', breaking the latter's horn.
  15. That's awesome about Jorma! Tal must've been a heck of a date, too.
  16. I've seen The Sentinel a couple of times and it's an excellent film.
  17. I've never felt like he was a particularly public person outside of the concert realm, so I'm not surprised by that. Still, yes, absofuckinglutely weird scene.
  18. The Fred Anderson I recall being kinda tough to track down these days. It's good, and it's too bad there was no vol. 2.
  19. Yeah, what I've heard of that session is very good and with fabulous sonics. That doesn't mean it isn't a boot, which I am almost certain it is. speaking of Don, caught Neneh Cherry last night here in NYC. I'd never seen her before, and the show was excellent. I never saw Don, but her stage mannerisms/vibe certainly reminded me a lot of what I *think* Don was like. She played "Black Elk Speaks" on the BBC a while back and it is an incredible tune. Hope the whole thing gets issued someday (which she hinted it might).
  20. glad the audio survived via the Beeb. too bad Albert Ayler's BBC broadcast wasn't as lucky.
  21. Yeah, this situation seems quite bizarre though UCLA health benefits -- like, who knows, not all institutions have great health coverage, especially for the aged. I could totally see their claims getting denied and, while dealing with fraud, it being too much to follow up on and get figured out. Not to mention the fact that very sane and well off people go bankrupt in this country because of health care costs.
  22. I interviewed him some years ago when he was living in Switzerland. I'm not sure what he's up to now. Fantastic player in my opinion.
