  1. Happy Birthday Han!
  2. yeah, he was awesome with Richard & Mimi Fariña as well. RIP.
  3. Don Cherry & Krzysztof Penderecki - Actions - (Wergo, GER)
  4. if anyone wants to make an offer on the remaining 17 before I do the next batch, let me know.
  5. very sad news. RIP.
  6. I saw it in a theater not too long after it was released. It had a very short run.
  7. A Mosaic with his Savoys and Audio Fidelity/Dauntless releases would be pretty sweet. If you wanted to do it the way of Barron and Curson, you'd have to cut a couple and squeeze in a release on Fontana (Alan Bates territory...) and one on Atlantic. Surely there's some sweet unreleased stuff.
  8. dang, where are you getting your groceries?
  9. Daniel Carter, Chris Corsano & Leila Bourdueil (cello) at Union Pool in Willamsburg! Jimmy Greene Quartet at the Jazz Standard http://www.nycjazzrecord.com/issues/tnycjr201704.pdf
  10. Wonder which of these people is next to get divorced?
  11. It is. I don't love it thus far but I am learning things.
  12. Little to no interest in Glasper, Iverson or Iyer here but the idea that TBP is "smooth jazz" seems ridiculous. They are also not young lions, at least not anymore. Iverson seemed to come off with the worst look of anybody -- smarmy know-it-all white guy -- which is pretty telling, considering Glasper reached ultimate cornball in this kerfluffle. But yes, a bunch of jerky dudes yelling at each other about feminism indeed. Much like white guys yelling at each other about levels of "wokeness" to the plight(s) of people of color. It's a problem.
  13. I would assume that the "editions" came around the same time and were probably mixed together, given ESP's practices and the quick change of address from Stollman's parents' house to the 5th Ave. office.

  16. Terumasa Hino - Hi-Nology - (Columbia Takt orig, JP)
  17. I assume the Glasper incident sealed the deal.
  18. Riley is good -- at one point Derek Taylor made me a comp of Riley cuts and it's quite strong. Probably from among his first few Steeplechases; it's been a while so I've forgotten what was from where.
  19. Ah -- yes, thanks, thought it might be Davis. Too bad the piano situation wasn't right though my "tin ears" were pretty happy with the sound. Will dig it up and listen again tonight.. Right now jamming the 2013 Smithsonian performance, which is amazing.
  20. That's a great photo! Somewhere I have a recording of Weston and Don Moyé that is superb. Jazz Showcase, perhaps? This is absolutely stunning:
  21. Totally understandable and unsurprising. It hasn't looked like a collective for quite some time, in my estimation.
