  1. yes, the discursiveness of his language when it is really coming through is quite incredible. Again, my interest isn't quite held by his post-60s recordings that I have heard (that's a me problem, not a Sonny problem!) with a few exceptions, but it'll all be there when I dip back in.
  2. neat record. It would be cool if the additional track (different, similarly weird band) from the Eremite CD made it onto a vinyl edition at some point down the road.
  3. have the Deep Jazz Reality LP reissue, strong record.
  4. This is indeed sad news, but a consistently full & interesting life he had, and we were able to participate in at least some of it!
  5. yes, the same David Lee. I quite like that record, but haven't dug it out in a very long time.
  6. One can never assume something will be reissued (or reissued "well"), so carpe diem.
  7. ah rad, ok, thank you!
  8. is that interview online?
  9. D:O FMP store is here: https://destination-out.bandcamp.com/
  10. yeah, not likely to happen. The Destination:Out Bandcamp does provide digital files of FMP releases to some degree, and that may be as close as we'll get to seeing some of these FMPs in a non-vinyl format.
  11. Good news; the SAJs are swell. Also, non-needledrop reissues of Black Ark & Live at the Village Vanguard would be really nice to see (of course, likely on a different imprint). Classic sessions that should never be OOP for long in my opinion.
  12. Real bummer news. He was such a unique player. RIP.
  13. & now I see that the GTA is a different session, unissued, per Kluck. Good intel!
  14. those Johansson trio albums are beautiful however pretty sure Ramblin' was intended as a GTA release, though it was recorded in the RCA Italiana studios
  15. Sad news. RIP to quite a voice.
  16. Ah rad, Adler is good people. This is very exciting news.
  17. I have eighteen of those that Freeman lists. Weird that the only European artists he mentions are a couple of ECM stalwarts. I'd hoped for at least one Brötzmann or Alex von Schlippenbach album at the very least... 1974 was also an incredibly fruitful year for Japanese jazz releases.
  18. I was surprised at the Rollins. I have been back into the Rollins world for a few years now; didn't recognize him on the cut you chose, but admittedly haven't explored much after the early 1970s.
  19. Going backwards and finished my catch-up listening -- the Ellis, Ra, and JB cuts were definitely my cuppa, the rest not so much. Thanks for the BFT!
  20. Bill Evans (1920-2013) Bill Evans (1929-80) Bill Evans (b. 1958)
  21. I saw Lowe just once with Billy Bang's group at Vision Festival a year earlier. It was a stirring concert.
  22. Looking forward to hearing this.
  23. Sweet! I know some of what they've got in the can and this will just whet the appetite. Swift Are the Winds of Life is extraordinary. Can't wait for the double LP version.
