a/l/l was a short-lived FMP subsidiary and their discs are hard to find. I'm not surprised we haven't talked about it much if at all. Maybe it was mentioned in the Funny Rat thread.
It's a split LP from 1970 - part of that series "The Best Players in Japan." I'd never seen a copy before and the personnel aren't listed on the record. The Mine side is quartet so my guess is that Masahiro Kikuchi, Yoshiro Suzuki and Hiroshi Murakami are the rhythm section.
The only Vennik-de Graaff LP I have is Minor Moods from Past and Present, which I think is the first one. Nice hand-screened thin cover with mimeographed inserts. I'd like to get that one on BASF as well, but it's tough to find in clean condition.
yeah, looks like it. Need to get Kanguru again - used to have a VG copy and sold it in the move. Actually wasn't the worst-playing VG I've encountered.
yeah, that record is really good.
I don't get Malaby. I heard him in 2005 and he was certainly strong, but... never lost any sleep over his musicianship or recordings.
Haven't heard it, but the Horo by comparison is balanced - lengthy solos but invigorating ensemble playing as well (there are overdubs but I think the concepts are well-orchestrated). Good stuff.
yeah, that's a neat record - glad to have a copy as well. I think it was quite cheap from Dusty Groove (they usually mark down the more 'out' stuff).
Also, apparently this exists: http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/clovisbordeaux
