There was a guy - UK I think - selling fake Genesis and Zep acetates on eBay and scamming people. The obvious tipoff was that they had standard Atlantic and Chrysalis labels with the word "Acetate" machine-printed on them... duh...
I would think - though I'm not sure - that Eskelin and Malaby are a bit older than Eric Alexander.
Ingrid Laubrock is great though in another bag entirely. I am certainly a supporter of Jon Irabagon but I'd also say he's in another bag.
Positive vibes to Kalaparusha, who has been hospitalized. Apparently he's suffering from serious heart problems. I admit I was wondering the other day if he was all right because his usual spot on 14th St. (4/5/6 line) has been absent the sound of his tenor the past few weeks.
Sorry to hear about Mr. Barrow's passing.
An opportunity to interview him came up but his mind wasn't in particularly great shape - apparently he didn't remember much of anything. His wife, whom I talked to, was super-friendly and cool though.
You'll notice that the Dutch Jazz Archive doesn't sell/ship the Concertgebouw material outside of the EU. Copyright grey areas probably are the reason for this.
