  1. Not Camembert Electrique? I love all the records until Moerlen got his hands all up in everything...
  2. I recall their promos had a gold stamp on the cover and a massive cut corner. My Braxtons are all normally sold stock... I have one A/F title, the Frank Lowe, with a small cut-out deletion mark, but it's not a promo.
  3. Yeah, really dig him as well. Here's a hell of a disc: The more recent Thirteenth Assembly disc is also really fantastic.
  4. Great record; that's the version I have, too. I'm pretty sure (not entirely, but pretty sure) that the Marte Roling cover is only on the Japanese pressing.
  5. Dang, sorry to hear this. He was/is a really fine player.
  6. So, I learned today that keeping records two feet from a heating pipe is not far enough... they appear to be safe, but they were getting warm and I was not about to test it further. Might think about offsite storage for the collection, unfortunately.

  7. I'm sure you could, upon ordering, mail them and tell them what you have. Mike and his partner are really nice folks.
  8. The CD is available directly from the label here.
  9. Yeah, my interactions with him were always really cool. We're about the same height though he is way better looking.
  10. My intentions were honest, so chill.
  11. I confirmed it with a trusted source via email.
  12. Apparently John Tchicai is gone. He was a favorite of mine. RIP to one of the greats (6'6", bright, handsome and a real sweetheart).

  13. I just found out the news that the great Danish reedman John Tchicai has passed. He'd recently fallen ill but I thought he was in the clear. Guess that was not so. A wonderful player and a really nice man. He will be missed.
  14. Yeah, the version of "Pithecanthropus Erectus" on there is awesome.
  15. Joe McPhee - Topology - (Hat Art)
  16. Chris McGregor's Brotherhood of Breath - Brotherhood - (RCA-Victor, German pressing) Haven't had this one on deck in years. Dunno why that is - I guess it's that the live stuff is usually more enticing.
  17. Ben Webster - Blue Light - (International Polydor)
  18. Used to have it in a budget reissue, which didn't sound all that great. The Dootoo/Dootone pressing isn't too difficult to source, probably, if you feel like ponying up. Right now I have it on a Fresh Sound (I think) CD, which works just fine for the moment. It's definitely well worth hearing and owning. Excellent album.
  19. Also, neither candidate mentioned women. Huh. That's kind of fucked up.

  20. Joel, there are thugs and jerks in every aspect of musical culture. It's impossible to avoid. I actually don't like hip-hop and rap all that much, but I respect its contribution to our musical landscape. Of course, most who try to integrate it into their own work fail miserably, which I think speaks to its singularity.
  21. Sonic Youth - EVOL - (SST)
