  1. Looking forward to hearing this. Also a reminder (for me and anyone else) to pick up the Talibam!/Alan Wilkinson LP.
  2. With the exception of his work with Andrew Hill, I've tried to get into Joe Henderson and it's been really, really hit-or-miss. That said, I have a number of his recordings as a leader that I rarely pull off the shelf.
  3. Dexter - The Apartment - (Steeplechase)
  4. Liebman and Keepnews, of course. Mandel - why not? But Marsalises? What do they even NEED at this point?
  5. Sad to hear. It's been a rough month for the corporeal in music. RIP.
  6. Yes, it's a fine one indeed!
  7. That is the primary reason why writing about music is so difficult. The written word isn't "gone, in the air" but thoughts about the musical experience will change over time. Another topic, however.
  8. Absolutely great LP, IMO. Also my first Stitt recording.
  9. I think that the first time I felt (in retrospect) like I was getting closer to "understanding" this music was experiencing Fred Anderson, Malachi Favors, Hamid Drake and Kidd Jordan playing at the Velvet during one of the after-hours sets. My jaw hit the floor. Thank you.
  10. First Art Blakey record I picked up was the Conn CD of Orgy in Rhythm, vol. 1.
  11. Oh shit. I held hope that this would not happen... yet. RIP, and thank you.
  12. Bettie Serveert - Lamprey - (Matador, gold wax)
  13. I'd like to get the duos with John Stevens that P-Vine reissued. They look nice.
  14. Great to see you on here. Just sent you an email off-board.
  15. What Allen said. Mr. Hazevoet, is that you?
  16. People clamoring for reissues where the original masters are nowhere to be found result in this situation. I don't know when HM did the BJT LP (got it on wax m'self) but Atavistic did Nuclear War some time ago. Maybe they would have done a better job now - though there's only so much you can do with a Y Records pressing...
  17. Association PC - Erna Morena - (MPS)
  18. Not to digress, but there is some nice stuff on that Broken Research label. Happy hunting.
  19. Until I bought my two-eye pressing some years back, all I'd heard of Bitches' Brew was on the old Columbia Masterworks (I think) CD set, which sounded cruddy. My LP sounds great and helped considerably in appreciating Miles' "Directions in Music" more greatly.
  20. Indeed, Weight/Counterweight is fantastic.
  21. 25 June for the Carter/Bradford and 7 July for the Jamal, I think.
