  1. Apparently forthcoming are a repress of the SAWANO Shihab Oktav LP as well as Sahib's Jazz Party.
  2. Cool. I've never really "got" Joe Maneri's music - almost to the point of not liking it - but that challenge has left him filed away in my mind as someone to explore further when I'm ready. His passing will certainly leave a hole.
  3. Any thoughts on the Paul Plimley/Lisle Ellis Ornette covers record? I've always thought it a little too icy, but I do enjoy Plimley with McPhee on that Sweet Freedom disc. Mike's right about Jarrett, esp. as Keith was (early on, especially) a very Bley-styled pianist.
  4. This is sad to hear though I know he'd been in seriously bad health in recent years. So long and thanks for all the music - music that I still don't understand. Source
  5. Incidentally, just got this one for review: Barry Guy & Mats Gustafsson - Sinners, Rather than Saints - (Not Two) vinyl only...
  6. Jeff: If you open the CBBB door a little wider, be prepared - a lot of really excellent material in that orbit.
  7. There's always this, too
  8. Looking forward to hearing this.
  9. Yeah, I'm starting to feel a need for growing room too. Ugh.
  10. Hey, I don't even own it.
  11. Ah, thanks. This duo is good: Ballrogg
  12. I have very little Basso in my collection but what I do have is really nice. RIP.
  13. Phineas Newborn, Jr. - Harlem Blues - (Contemporary, yellow label) In absence of Catch and in presence of Phineas.
  14. Yeah, that is a very scarce one. I believe they also share a duo on a Chant du Monde LP. Also: Kent Carter and Claude Bernard, on Kent Carter Solo with Claude Bernard (Sun).
  15. Mambo Nassau, on Z records, is really excellent. I've heard a smattering of other material that was quite good as well, but I can certainly vouch for this one. Rubbery insanity with a club-friendly polyphony.
  16. Lee Morgan - Here's Lee Morgan - (Vee Jay stereo)
  17. Jaki Byard - Solo Piano - (Prestige, blue label)
  18. Coltrane & Johnny Hartman - (Impulse red/black stereo, in great nick)
  19. Yeah, he's great! I've got quite a few of his releases and some live performances as well. And its available! Gotta get it. Required listening if you're into the "free" stuff.
  20. Joe McPhee/Dominic Duval (one on CIMP, one on Drimala) Jimmy Halperin/Dominic Duval - Monk Dreams - (No Business) Steve Adams/Ken Filiano (Nine Winds, Clean Feed)
  21. Freddie Hubbard - Blue Spirits - (BN, 70s pressing)
  22. Emtidi - Saat - (Think Progressive reissue)
  23. Never had it but would enjoy hearing that.
  24. PM sent on the Bailey. The Morgue set is a little out of my price range on vinyl.
  25. Damn - still looking for one of them. The CD will have to do. I see both pressings often on the 'net; will let you know the next time one passes by.
